Pampanga, officially the Province of Pampanga, is a province in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines. Lying on the northern shore of Manila Bay, Pampanga is bordered by Tarlac to the north, Nueva Ecija to the northeast, Bulacan to the east, Manila Bay to the central-south, Bataan to the southwest and Zambales to the west. Its capital is the City of San Fernando. Angeles City is the largest LGU, but while geographically within Pampanga, it is classified as a first-class, highly urbanized city and has been governed independently of the province since it received its charter in 1964.

He is currently the head coach of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters of the Philippine Basketball Association. He previously served as the interim head coach of the Philippine national team. Guiao won seven PBA titles since starting his head coaching job for Swift in the early 1990s. He is a former Philippine Basketball League commissioner from 1997 to 2000. He was also the Vice Governor of the Province of Pampanga from 2004 to 2013, serving three different Governors, Mark Lapid, Eddie Panlilio and Lilia Pineda. He is a former congressman, representing the 1st District of Pampanga from 2013 to 2016.
Filsports Basketball Association (FBA) was a regional grassroots amateur basketball league based in the Philippines, aiming to discover young and talented basketball players from the provinces and regions. Formed in January 2015, by a group of basketball stakeholders including former Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel player Vince Hizon and LJ Serrano, the FBA is sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas in accordance to the FIBA rules.
Aurelio "Dong" Dueñas Gonzales Jr. is the congressman of the 3rd District of Pampanga in the Philippines. He was formerly a member of Lakas-Kampi-CMD but switched to PDP–Laban in the 2016 Philippine general elections.

They are one of five teams based in the Central Luzon region and play their home games at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando.

Philippine Army returned as Pacific Town-Army Lady Troopers and Motolite Power Builders returned with a new set of players.

The 2021 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference was the tenth conference of the Premier Volleyball League and its first conference as a professional league. The conference started on July 17, 2021 and ended on August 13, 2021, at the PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte in a bubble. The PVL has been approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to begin team practices to be followed by the official start of the 2021 season.

The playoffs began on October 6, 2023 and ended on December 2, 2023, when the Pampanga Giant Lanterns defeated the Bacoor City Strikers in three games in the 2023 MPBL Finals. This season featured 29 teams, which included two expansion teams: the Negros Muscovados and the Quezon Huskers.
The 2022–23 Pilipinas Super League DUMPER Cup was the second tournament of the Pilipinas Super League (PSL) Pro Division. The regular season began on November 23, 2022, and ended on March 11, 2023. The playoffs then began on March 13, 2023, and ended on March 30, 2023. The entire tournament is sponsored by the DUMPER Partylist, hence the name.
The 2022 Pampanga Giant Lanterns season was the third season of the franchise in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). This is also their first season in San Fernando, after playing in Angeles City during their first two seasons.
