Shamsul Anuar bin Nasarah is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs in the Unity Government administration under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail since December 2022 and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Lenggong since March 2008. He served as the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration under former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin from March 2020 to his resignation in August 2021. He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) party in the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. He has also served as President of the Malaysian Youth Council. His appointment as a deputy minister in December 2023 is rare in Malaysian politics since he was a former federal minister in the Muhyiddin cabinet back in March 2020. This has rarely happened in the Malaysian politics. He is one of the three deputy ministers who were previously a federal minister alongside M. Kulasegaran and Noraini Ahmad.
State assembly elections were held in Malaysia on 8 July 1978 in all states except Kelantan, Sabah and Sarawak. Kelantan held its state assembly election months earlier on 11 March 1978.

Awang Adek bin Hussin is a Malaysian politician and diplomat. He is the former Malaysian Ambassador to the United States. He was the Member of the Parliament of Malaysia for the Bachok constituency in Kelantan for one term from 2004 to 2008. Datuk Dr. Awang Adek bin Hussin is no longer an active politician he once was. He had relinquished all his party positions after the General Election in 2018. He remains active as an ordinary party member and is no longer active in party politics. Since 2018, his involvements focused mainly on corporate activities and has been chairmen on a few boards.

He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition and was a member as well as State Secretary of Kelantan of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), a component party of the PN and formerly GS and PR coalitions.
