CEVRO is a think-tank affiliated with the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), a political party in the Czech Republic. [1] [2] It was established in 1999 by Ivan Langer. [3] [4]

According to Ivan Langer, the main goal of CEVRO is to improve political culture, education in social sciences and support of democracy and freedom around the world. [5]

CEVRO Institute

On September 15th, 2005, CEVRO established its own private university, the CEVRO Institute, providing social science education at BA and MA levels and several professional post-graduate programs. It is focused on education and research in the area of social sciences and public policy. Educational programmes include political science, international relations, law, economics, and public administration.

Democracy Assistance

CEVRO participates in programmes to support democracy abroad, including the transition of Egypt to democracy, and annual trips to Prague for democracy activists from countries such as Belarus, Cuba and Burma. [7]

2009 European Parliament election in the Czech Republic

The European Parliament election of 2009 in Czech Republic was the election of the delegation from Czech Republic to the European Parliament in 2009. The Civic Democratic Party has won the election with a surprisingly strong lead against the Czech Social Democratic Party. Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia came third and the Christian and Democratic Union – Czechoslovak People's Party became the last party to enter the Parliament.

ANO 2011

ANO 2011 is a populist political party in the Czech Republic. The party was founded by Andrej Babiš, the second-richest person in the Czech Republic, owner of the Agrofert conglomerate, and Mafra media group, and the current Prime Minister of the Czech Republic. It is based on the former movement Action of Dissatisfied Citizens. "Ano" means "yes" in Czech.

2012 Civic Democratic Party leadership election

The Civic Democratic Party (ODS) leadership election of 2012 was a part of party's congress. Incumbent leader and Prime Minister Petr Nečas sought re-election. Nečas faced Ivan Fuksa who announced his candidacy only a day prior the election.

1997 Civic Democratic Party leadership election

A leadership election for the Civic Democratic Party (ODS) was held in the Czech Republic on 14 December 1997. It followed a political crisis caused by allegations that the party had received illegal donations and was maintaining a secret slush which resulted in fall of the government. Incumbent party leader and Prime Minister Václav Klaus faced Jan Ruml, Klaus won the election and remained as the leader of the ODS, which led to a split in party when a group of ODS members left the party and founded the Freedom Union (US). In some subsequent opinion polls, the Freedom Union polled over 10% of the vote and was expected by some commentators to become the major centre-right party. However, the 1998 elections saw the party receive only 8.6% of vote, while the ODS remained the main right-wing party.

Prezident 21 is an interactive website, created by Czech mathematician and political activist Karel Janeček and his think tank Institute for Democracy 21, used to familiarise voters with a proposed system to select a presidential candidate for the 2018 Czech presidential election.

Klausism

In Czech politics, Klausism refers to the political positions of Václav Klaus, former prime minister and president of the Czech Republic. It was first used by Mirek Topolánek, who designated Klausism as the ideology of the Civic Democratic Party (ODS). This term was also used by former Prague mayor Jan Kasl. Klaus himself does not take issue with the term. The current usage of the term "Klausism" has become distanced from Klaus himself, leading to the phrase "Klausism without Klaus." Though Klausism primarily refers to the political ideology, it is also frequently used as a label for the neologisms invented by Klaus.

Center for Economics and Politics is a think-tank based in the Czech Republic. It was founded by leader of Civic Democratic Party Václav Klaus in 1998. Other people involved with CEP include Petr Mach and Jan Skopeček. In 2013, CEP was merged with Václav Klaus' Institute but still exists. It serves as Service organisation of Václav Klaus' Institute.

Civic Democratic Alliance (2016)

Civic Democratic Alliance is a political party in the Czech Republic. It considers itself to be successor of the previous Civic Democratic Alliance. It was established in September 2016 by current leader Pavel Sehnal, and former Prime Minister Petr Nečas is also involved with the party. The party participated in the 2017 legislative election and plans to participate in the 2018 municipal election. Leaders of the original Civic Democratic Alliance are not involved with the party.

1993 Civic Democratic Party leadership election

A leadership election for the Civic Democratic Party (ODS) was held on 29 November in Kopřivnice. Václav Klaus was reelected as party's leader. He received 220 votes while 48 delegates voted against him. Klaus's victory was considered certain. Václav Benda had a speech during the election in which he criticised Klaus' politics. Election was marked by technical problems. After voting was finished, it was found out that there were 5 more votes than delegates. Election was then repeated.

EStat.cz

eStat.cz is a think tank based in the Czech Republic. Its focus is an efficient government and public services. It was founded in 2004.

Democratic Bloc was a parliamentary alliance formed in 2017 by four Centre-right parties. Parties agreed to cooperate in parliament. Czech Pirate Party and Czech Social Democratic Party were also offered participation but both parties declined. It was announced on 15 November 2017 on a Press Conference by Petr Fiala. Fiala stated that Democratic Bloc isn't meant to be a long term coalition but its only task is to take over initiative during negotiations of parliament's body and for constituent meeting. Democratic Bloc was dissolved on 21 December 2017.

2018 Prague municipal election

Municipal elections were held in Prague in on 5 and 6 October 2018 as part of nationwide municipal elections. All 65 seats of the Prague Assembly were up to elect. Full results were presented a day later, on 7 October 2018.

Civic Conservative Party (Czech Republic)

Civic Conservative Party is a national conservative political party based in the Czech Republic. It was founded in 2013 as a split from the Civic Democratic Party by Jiří Janeček.

2018 Czech Senate election

Senate elections were held in the Czech Republic on 5 and 6 October 2018 alongside municipal elections, with a second round held on 12 and 13 October 2018. The Conservative Civic Democratic Party (ODS) won the election with 10 seats. Governing parties ANO 2011 and the Czech Social Democratic Party were heavily defeated, winning only 1 seat each. The Communist Party lost its last seat in the Senate when Václav Homolka failed to be re-elected, meaning the party would be without representation in the Senate for the first time in the history of Czech Republic. The election was considered the first major win for the opposition to Andrej Babiš' Cabinet. Commentators including Josef Kopecký also noted ODS confirmed their position as the main opposition party, ahead of the Czech Pirate Party.

The 2019 European Parliament election in the Czech Republic was held on 24 and 25 May 2019, electing the 21 members of the Czech delegation to the European Parliament as part of the European elections held across the European Union.

2008 President of the Senate of the Czech Republic election

Election of the President of the Senate of the Czech Republic was held on 26 November 2008. Přemysl Sobotka wa reelected for his third term.

2020 Czech regional elections

Elections to regional councils in the Czech Republic in 13 regions were held on 2–3 October 2020.
