The CIMB Classic was a professional golf tournament in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the PGA Tour. Played in the fall, the event debuted in 2010 and moved to the West Course of the TPC Kuala Lumpur in 2013; the first three editions were played at The Mines Resort & Golf Club in Mines Wellness City. The event was replaced in the 2019–20 PGA Tour season by the Zozo Championship in Japan. [1]

The tournament was the first event ever sanctioned by the PGA Tour in Southeast Asia. [2] It was an official money event on the Asian Tour, but was an unofficial money event on the PGA Tour through 2012. Beginning in October 2013, it gained official status on the PGA Tour and the field was increased to 78 players. FedEx Cup points are earned by those making the cut, the winner earned a trip to the Masters. [3] The purse was US$7 million, one of the highest in East Asia together with the WGC-HSBC Champions and the now defunct BMW Masters.

Field

In 2010, the 40-man field consisted of the top 25 available players from the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup standings, the top 10 available from the Asian Tour's Order of Merit and 5 sponsors exemptions. [4] In 2011, the field expanded to 48 players, 30 from the FedEx Cup standings, 10 from the Asian Tour's Order of Merit, and 8 sponsors exemptions. [5] In 2013, the field expanded to 78, 60 from the FedEx Cup standings, 10 from the Asian Tour's Order of Merit, and 8 sponsors exemptions. [6]

Inaugurated in 2005, the first seven editions were played at the Sheshan Golf Club in Shanghai, then moved to the Mission Hills Golf Club in Shenzhen for a single year in 2012. It returned to Sheshan Golf Club in 2013.

Ryan Moore (golfer) American professional golfer

Ryan David Moore is an American professional golfer, currently playing on the PGA Tour. He had a highly successful amateur career, winning the NCAA Individual Championship, the U.S. Amateur Public Links, and the U.S. Amateur in 2004. Since turning professional in 2005 he has won five titles on the PGA Tour as of the 2016 season and earned rankings inside the top thirty in the world.

The FedEx Cup is a championship trophy for the PGA Tour. Its introduction marked the first time that men's professional golf had a playoff system. Announced in November 2005, it was first awarded in 2007. Patrick Cantlay is the 2021 champion. This competition is sponsored by FedEx.

Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC), formerly known as Tournament Players Club or TPC Kuala Lumpur, is a golf club located in Mont Kiara. Many of its facilities are open to visitors, including the golf course, driving range, all six F&B venues, bowling centre, Let's Get Fit workout classes, proshop and golf academy.

Nicholas Alan Watney is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. The highlight of Watney's career is his victory at the 2011 WGC-Cadillac Championship. In July 2011, Watney won the AT&T National and broke into the top ten of the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time.

PGA Tour Golf tour in the United States

The PGA Tour is the organizer of the main professional golf tours played by men in the United States and North America. It organizes most of the events on the flagship annual series of tournaments also known as the PGA Tour, as well as PGA Tour Champions and the Korn Ferry Tour, as well as PGA Tour Canada, PGA Tour Latinoamérica, and PGA Tour China. The PGA Tour is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, a suburb southeast of Jacksonville. Originally established by the Professional Golfers' Association of America, it was spun off in December 1968 into a separate organization for tour players, as opposed to club professionals, the focal members of today's PGA of America. Originally the "Tournament Players Division", it adopted the name "PGA Tour" in 1975 and runs most of the week-to-week professional golf events on the tournament known as the PGA Tour, including The Players Championship, hosted at TPC Sawgrass; the FedEx Cup, with its finale at The Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club; and the biennial Presidents Cup. The remaining events on the PGA Tour are run by different organizations, as are the U.S.-based LPGA Tour for women and other men's and women's professional tours around the world.

Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia

The Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia was a women's professional golf tournament on the LPGA Tour. It was played for the first time in October 2010 at the East Course at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The 2011 PGA Tour was the 44th season since the Tour became independent from the PGA of America. The season consisted of a total of 49 sanctioned events running from early January to late November. The schedule was announced on December 2, 2010 and had four phases:

Billy Hurley III

Willard Jeremiah "Billy" Hurley III is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour.

The 2012 PGA Tour was the 45th season since the Tour became independent from the PGA of America. The season consisted of a total of 45 official money events running from early January to mid November.

Cameron Smith is an Australian professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. He has won five times on the PGA Tour, including the 2022 Players Championship. He was also runner-up in the 2020 Masters Tournament.

The 2014–15 PGA Tour was the 100th season of the PGA Tour, and the 48th since separating from the PGA of America. The season began on October 9, 2014.

Justin Thomas American professional golfer (born 1993)

Justin Louis Thomas is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour and is former World Number One. In 2017, Thomas experienced a breakout year, winning five PGA Tour events and the FedEx Cup championship. He has won two major golf championships, winning the PGA Championship in 2017 and 2022. In May 2018, Thomas became the 21st player to top the Official World Golf Ranking.

CJ Cup

The CJ Cup is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour. The tournament was played for the first time in October 2017 at the start of the 2017–18 season, and is sponsored by CJ Group. The first three editions were played at the Nine Bridges Golf Club on Jeju Island, South Korea. In 2020, the tournament was moved to Shadow Creek Golf Course in North Las Vegas, Nevada as part of a Las Vegas Swing in October; the move was due to COVID-19 pandemic travel restrictions. In 2021, plans to return to South Korea were abandoned with the tournament remaining in the Las Vegas area, but moving to The Summit Club in Summerlin. For 2022, the event will be held in the Savannah, Georgia metropolitan region, at Congaree Golf Club in Gillisonville, South Carolina.

Zozo Championship

The Zozo Championship is a professional golf tournament in Inzai, Chiba Prefecture, which is located in the Greater Tokyo Area of Japan. It is co-sanctioned by the Japan Golf Tour and the PGA Tour. It is also sponsored by ZOZO, a Japanese clothing brand.

The 2019–20 PGA Tour was the 105th season of the United States-based elite men's professional golf circuit. The season started on September 12, 2019. The 2020 FedEx Cup Playoffs began on August 20, and concluded on September 7, 2020, with Dustin Johnson winning the FedEx Cup.
