The 2017 Asian Tour is the 23rd season of the modern Asian Tour (formerly the Asian PGA Tour), the main professional golf tour in Asia (outside of Japan) since it was established in 1995.

The European Tour, currently titled as the DP World Tour for sponsorship reasons, and legally the PGA European Tour or the European Tour Group, is the leading men's professional golf tour in Europe. The organisation also operates the European Senior Tour and the developmental Challenge Tour; the second tier of men's professional golf in Europe. The tour's headquarters are at the Wentworth Club in Virginia Water, Surrey, England. The European Tour was established by the British-based Professional Golfers' Association through the 1970s, and responsibility was transferred to an independent PGA European Tour organisation in 1984.
The PGA Tour of Australasia, currently titled as the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia for sponsorship reasons, is a professional golf tour for men, owned and operated by the PGA of Australia. Official events on the tour count for World Golf Ranking points. The tour is recognised as being founded in 1973 when the PGA of Australia instituted an Order of Merit. Despite always including at least one tournament in New Zealand, the tour was known as the PGA Tour of Australia until it adopted its current name in 1991 following the inclusion of three events in Asia.
The WGC-HSBC Champions was a professional golf tournament, held annually in China. Inaugurated in 2005, the first seven editions were played at the Sheshan Golf Club in Shanghai, then moved to the Mission Hills Golf Club in Shenzhen for a single year in 2012. It returned to Sheshan Golf Club in 2013.

The 2015 WGC-HSBC Champions was a golf tournament played from 5–8 November 2015 at the Sheshan Golf Club in Shanghai, China. It was the seventh WGC-HSBC Champions tournament, and the fourth of four World Golf Championships events held in 2015.
The 2016 EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM was the second edition of the EurAsia Cup, a team golf event contested between teams representing Asia and Europe. It was held from 15 to 17 January at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. The inaugural event in 2014 finished in a tie, and so the Cup was shared between the teams. For the 2016 edition, the team size was increased from 10 to 12 with a corresponding increase in the number of matches from 20 to 24.

The 2018 WGC-Mexico Championship was a golf tournament played March 1–4 at Club de Golf Chapultepec in Naucalpan, Mexico, just west of Mexico City. It was the 19th time the WGC Championship was played, and the first of the World Golf Championships events to be staged in 2018. The approximate elevation of the course's clubhouse is 2,400 meters (7,870 ft) above sea level.

The 2020–21 PGA Tour of Australasia, titled as the 2020–21 ISPS Handa PGA Tour of Australasia for sponsorship reasons, was the 47th season on the PGA Tour of Australasia, the main professional golf tour in Australia and New Zealand since it was formed in 1973.
The 2021 WGC-Workday Championship was a golf tournament that was played February 25–28 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida. It was the 22nd and final time the WGC Championship has been played and the first of the World Golf Championships events to be staged in 2021. The event was originally scheduled to take place in Mexico, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was moved to Florida in January 2021. On February 16, it was announced Workday, Inc. would become the new title sponsor.
Meanwhile, Green, a three-time winner on the Asian Development Tour (ADT), clinched the title with a total collection of US$585,813 (RM2.39 million) after playing in 17 tournaments all season, leaving America's David Lipsky in second with a gap of US$124,634 (RM507,666).
Gavin became the first Malaysian to top the Asian Tour Order of Merit after a remarkable 2017 campaign, earning promotion to the European Tour.
Malaysia's Gavin Green was named the Asian Tour Players' Player of the Year to cap off a fantastic 2017 season where he also won the prestigious Order of Merit crown... Micah Lauren Shin of the United States was named Rookie of the Year thanks largely to his maiden victory at the Resorts World Manila Masters.
