Los Guerreros Laguneros is a lucha libre stable based in Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). The stable was created in 2001 and has, since its inception, been led by Último Guerrero and has been the top rudo stable in CMLL. Los Guerreros Laguneros currently consists of Último Guerrero, his younger brother Gran Guerrero and Stuka Jr.
José Gutiérrez Hernández, better known by his ring name Último Guerrero, is a Mexican luchador, who works for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). He is not related to the lucha libre legend Gory Guerrero or any of his children; "Guerrero" in this case is the Spanish word for warrior and not the surname of the character. On September 19, 2014, Último Guerrero lost a Lucha de Apuestas match to Atlantis, after which he was forced to unmask and reveal his birth name.
Anselmo Rivas Castro is a Mexican luchador, or professional wrestler, who currently works for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) under the name Dragón Rojo Jr.. He has previously worked under the ring names Zaracatán Jr. and Diamante Negro but has achieved the majority of his success as Dragón Rojo Jr. He is a two-time CMLL World Middleweight Champion, and he currently holds the record for most days as Middleweight Champion. Dragón Rojo Jr. along with Último Guerrero are the longest reigning CMLL World Tag Team Champions in the history of the championship.

Núñez ring name is Spanish for "Scorpion King".

The post anniversary Super Viernes show featured the first round of the La Copa Junior VIP tournament, the second such tournament of 2014, this time featuring higher ranking wrestlers than the January 1, 2014 version. The tournament would continue into October 2014.

Los Ingobernables is a lucha libre stable based in the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) promotion. It was formed in April 2014 by La Máscara, Rush and La Sombra, and has since become renowned as one of the top antagonistic groups in CMLL history. As members of the group, La Máscara has held the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship and the CMLL World Tag Team Championship alongside Rush, while La Sombra has held the NWA World Historic Middleweight and Welterweight Championships. Through CMLL's working relationship with New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), Tetsuya Naito joined the stable in 2015, eventually forming an offshoot group named Los Ingobernables de Japón in the Japanese promotion.

At times some of the team members were part of a pre-existing scripted feuds or storylines with each other. The tournament was won by rivals Máximo and El Terrible, who at the time of the tournament had already signed a contract to face off in a Luchas de Apuestas at the upcoming 2015 Homenaje a Dos Leyendas. The 2015 version of the tournament was the sixth overall time CMLL has held such a tournament, starting in 2010 and always held early in the year.
Sin Salida (2015) was a major professional wrestling event produced by the Mexican Lucha Libre-promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) that took place on Friday night July 17, 2015, in CMLL's main venue, Arena México, nicknamed "the cathedral of Lucha Libre" in lieu of CMLL's normally scheduled Super Viernes show. The main event was a best two-out-of-three falls Lucha de Apuestas, or bet match where both Rey Escorpión and Último Guerrero "bet" their hair on the outcome of the match and the loser was forced to have all his hair shaved off afterwards as per Lucha Libre traditions. The show also hosted two first-round matches of CMLL's 2015 En Busca de un Ídolo tournament where Esfinge wrestled Canelo Casas and Delta was supposed to face Blue Panther Jr., but wrestled Hechicero instead. The show contained four additional matches. Although it was not announced ahead of time, the first six matches of the show were broadcast live on the Terra Networks' home page for free.
The Torneo Gran Alternativa (2011) was a professional wrestling tournament event held by the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) that took place from March 25 until April 8, 2011 over the course of three CMLL Super Viernes shows. The Torneo Gran Alternativa concept sees a Novato or rookie team up with an experienced wrestler for a tag team tournament. The rookie winner is often elevated up the ranks of CMLL as a result of winning the tournament, but there is no specific "prize" awarded for winning the tournament beyond a symbolic trophy.
