Los Cancerberos del Infierno (Spanish for "The Infernal Cerberusses" or "Infernal Hellhounds") is a villainous Mexican professional wrestling stable, currently working for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). The group works as a rudo (term used for wrestlers who portray the "Bad guys") faction and used much flame and burning imagery in their wrestling apparel. As of April 2022, the stable only consists of Virus and Cancerbero. Pólvora, Euforia and Demus 3:16 were formerly members of the stable but have since left. Founding member Raziel would remain a part of the stable until his death.

History

A Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) press conference on November 19, 2009 was used to officially announce that Virus was the leader of a new CMLL group called Los Cancerberos del Infierno (Spanish for "the Infernal Cerberusses") a group that beyond Virus consisted of Euforia and Pólvora as well as two new characters Cancerbero and Raziel. Cancerbero and Raziel used to wrestle under the ring names Messala and Caligula, otherwise known as Los Romanos a low-card rudo tag team. [1] On the January 15, 2010 Super Viernes Raziel defeated Ángel de Plata in a Lighting match, continuing the building storyline between the two factions. [2] In late 2009 Los Cancerberos participated in a tournament to crown new Mexican National Trios Champion, Virus, Pólvora and Euforia represented the group and defeated Los Ángeles Celestiales (Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Plata and Ángel de Oro) in the first round. [3] Following the tournament loss Los Ángeles Celestiales and Los Cancerberos del Infierno have developed a rivalry between the two groups, facing off on various CMLL shows, including their Friday night CMLL Super Viernes show. [4] In early 2010 Euforia was entered in the first ever Torneo Nacional de Parejas Increibles tournament, a tournament where CMLL normally teams up a Tecnico and a Rudo for a tournament where the teams represent the region they trained in. Euforia teamed up with Ephesto to form the only "all rudo" team in the group. In the first round Euforia and Ephesto lost to tournament favorites Místico and Averno. [5]

In late 2010 Mini-Estrella Demus 3:16 won a tournament to earn the right to work in the regular male division instead. [6] Once promoted Demus 3:16 joined Los Cancereros and almost immediately started to develop friction with Virus, as Demus 3:16 tried to take over as the leader of the group. The storyline came to a conclusion on March 11, 2011, when Virus defeated Demus 3:16 in a Hair vs. Hair match, which let Virus keep his position as the leader of Los Cancerberos del Infierno and send Demus back into the Mini-Estrellas division. [7] On June 7, 2011, Virus defeated Guerrero Maya Jr. in a tournament final to win the vacant CMLL World Lightweight Championship. [8] On July 15, 2011, Pólvora defeated Valiente to win the Mexican National Welterweight Championship. [9] In April 2012, Euforia and CMLL World Heavyweight Champion El Terrible won the 2012 Gran Alternativa. [10] The same month both Euforia and Pólvora entered the En Busca de un Ídolo tournament/reality television show, [11] while Pólvora did not qualify for the second round, finishing last in the point standings, Euforia made it to the finals before losing to Titán. [12] On July 6, Euforia was named the newest member of Último Guerrero's Los Guerreros del Infierno stable, leaving Los Cancerberos. [13] No storyline came of the move from one group to the other. Pólvora lost the Middlweight Championship to En Busca de un Ídolo tournament winner Titán on September 4, 2012. [14] In late 2012, Pólvora left the stable to team up with Rey Escorpión and Dragón Rojo Jr., forming a new trio (later named Los Revolucionarios del Terror) to face Los Guerreros del Infierno, Último Guerrero, Niebla Roja and former Cancerbero teammate Euforia.

Ángel Azteca Jr. forms a trio called Los Ángeles Celestiales along with Ángel de Oro and Ángel de Plata. Ángel Azteca Jr. is Spanish for "Aztec Angel Jr."

Sergio Raymundo Chávez Velasco, better known by his ring name Niebla Roja, is a Mexican luchador, who currently works for the Mexican wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). He previously worked as Ángel de Plata between 2008 and 2012 before adopting his current ring name. A second-generation wrestler, he is the son of retired wrestler Apolo Chávez, and the brother of Miguel Ángel Chávez Velasco, who is also a luchador under the ring name Ángel de Oro.

Daniel Nuñez Hernandez, better known by his ring name Cancerbero, is a Mexican luchador, currently working for the Mexican wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). Cancerbero is a member of Los Cancerberos del Infierno, under the leadership of Virus. Cancerbero previously worked as Messala for many years, forming the team Los Romanos along with Caligula. The name Cancerbero is Spanish for Cerberus, the three-headed hound, which according to Greek mythology, guards the entrance to Hell.

Pólvora is the ring name of a Mexican LuchadorEnmascarado, or masked professional wrestler best known for his work in the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). Pólvora's real name is not a matter of public record, as is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico where their private lives are kept a secret from the wrestling fans. His name is the Spanish term for Gunpowder. Pólvora's brother is also a professional wrestler, under the ring name Inquisidor.

The Torneo Gran Alternativa (2010) was a professional wrestling annual tournament produced by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) and took place over three shows between April 16 and April 30, 2010 in Arena México, Mexico City, Mexico. The Torneo Gran Alternativa is an annual tournament where an established CMLL veteran teams up with a Novato or rookie in a tag team tournament, although at times the Novato is not so much a rookie, but either a wrestler who has been given a new ring character or has never participated in the Gran Alternativa before. The format of the tournament was changed for the 2010 tournament, traditionally it featured 8 tag teams and a one night tournament, but in 2010 it featured 16 teams, split over three CMLL Super Viernes shows. Héctor Garza and Pólvora won the tournament, defeating Volador Jr. and Delta in the finals.

The CMLL Torneo Nacional de Parejas Increíbles 2013 or "National Incredible Pairs Tournament 2013" was the fourth of a series of Lucha Libre tournaments for Tag Teams traditionally held early in the year. The tournament was based on the Lucha Libre Parejas Increíbles match type where two wrestlers of opposite allegiance, portraying either villains, referred to as "Rudos" in Lucha Libre wrestling terminology or fan favorites, or "tecnicos". At times some of the team members were part of a pre-existing scripted feuds or storylines with each other. The tournament was won by the team of La Sombra and Volador Jr.

José Luis Florencio Martínez is a Mexican luchador, or professional wrestler best known under the ring name Akuma. He is currently working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) portraying a rudo wrestling character, and is one-half of the current CMLL Arena Coliseo Tag Team Champions - with Espanto Jr.. He is the younger brother of CMLL wrestler Demus 3:16 and has been referred to as both Akuma 3:16 and Akuma 666 early in his career.

The Torneo Gran Alternativa (2012) was the 2012 version of Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre's (CMLL) Torneo Gran Alternativa, a tournament they had held almost every year since 1994. The 2012 version was the eighteenth Torneo Gran Alternativa and was held in March and April 2012. The tournament consisted of 16 tag teams, composed of a Novato (rookie) and a veteran wrestler, who may not normally team up.

The Torneo Gran Alternativa (2011) was a professional wrestling tournament event held by the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) that took place from March 25 until April 8, 2011 over the course of three CMLL Super Viernes shows. The Torneo Gran Alternativa concept sees a Novato or rookie team up with an experienced wrestler for a tag team tournament. The rookie winner is often elevated up the ranks of CMLL as a result of winning the tournament, but there is no specific "prize" awarded for winning the tournament beyond a symbolic trophy.
