Manuel Ortiz Partida (born May 22, 1971) is a Mexican retired professional wrestler, better known by the ring name Halloween. He is also known for his appearances with World Championship Wrestling as Ciclope from 1996 to 1999.

Professional wrestling career

Partida debuted in 1987. In the early-1990s, he adopted the ring name "Halloween" which he would use for most of his career. [1]

In 1996, Ortiz joined World Championship Wrestling where he took the name "Ciclope". [3] His biggest moment in wrestling was part of the feud between Chris Jericho and Dean Malenko. Malenko, who had been inactive for a few months prior, dressed up as Ciclope to win a Cruiserweight battle royale to determine the number one contendership to Chris Jericho's WCW Cruiserweight Championship. Jericho had been refusing to grant Malenko contendership, making the disguise necessary. [3]

After his time in World Championship Wrestling was over, he lost the Ciclope mask to Antifaz del Norte early in 1999. [3] He quickly reverted to his Halloween character but lost his mask again on December 24, 1999, in a match against Super Parka. [4]

In 2002, Halloween joined Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre in Mexico City along with La Familia de Tijuana (a group consisting of himself, Damián 666, Nicho el Millonario, Rey Misterio, Sr. and their valet Lady Victoria, although Rey did not come for the tour). The trio won the National Trios title but Nicho had a falling out with management and La Familia soon left entirely. [5] They continued to work for independent promoters until CMLL called them back in 2005 to wrestle against Negro Casas, Heavy Metal and Felino on a show celebrating Negro's 25 years of wrestling. Perro Aguayo, Jr. recruited him and Damián for his Los Perros del Mal group. [6] However, Halloween suffered a leg injury and his role was minimalized. After Universo 2000 used the illegal martinete on Damián 666, Halloween challenged Univeso to a hair vs. hair match on the December 2 show. After losing the match and his hair, Halloween underwent knee surgery that put him out of action for several months after which he was released from CMLL.

In 2009, Halloween joined Aguayo's Perros del Mal Producciones , where he reunited with Damián 666. [7] In June 2010, Halloween became a major part of a storyline, where Los Perros del Mal invaded AAA. [8] On June 18, 2011, at Triplemanía XIX, Halloween, Damián 666 and X-Fly defeated Los Psycho Circus in a tournament final to become the first ever AAA World Trios Champions. [9] On July 31 at Verano de Escándalo , Los Perros del Mal faced Los Psycho Circus in a steel cage match, where the last person left in the cage would lose either his hair or mask. The match ended with Psycho Clown escaping the cage, leaving X-Fly inside and forcing him to have his hair shaved off. [10] On October 9 at Héroes Inmortales, Los Perros del Mal and Los Psycho Circus ended their year long rivalry, when Halloween, Damián 666 and Nicho el Millonario were defeated in a Masks vs. Hairs steel cage match and were all shaved bald. [11] After a five-month break from the rivalry, Los Perros del Mal lost the AAA World Trios Championship to Los Psycho Circus on March 11, 2012. [12] The following day, Halloween, Damián 666 and X-Fly announced that they had quit Los Perros del Mal. [13]

On March 13, 2012, Halloween, Bestia 666, Damián 666, Super Nova and X-Fly announced that they were forming La Familia de Tijuana, a group of independent wrestlers, much like Los Perros del Mal, with the exception that they were not looking to form their own promotion. [14] On March 29, International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) was officially announced as La Familia de Tijuana's new home promotion. [15] Afterwards, Halloween was the only member of La Familia de Tijuana, who kept appearing on AAA events. After initially teasing dissension with El Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Halloween reunited with Los Perros del Mal on April 1. [16] On April 19, Halloween officially severed his ties with the rest of La Familia de Tijuana and returned to Los Perros del Mal. [17] On August 5 at Triplemanía XX , Halloween reunited with former partner Extreme Tiger for one night to take part in a Parejas Suicidas steel cage match, featuring three other former tag teams. However, both Halloween and Tiger managed to escape the cage and avoid having to face each other in a Hair vs. Mask match. [18] In late 2012, Halloween started a romance storyline with Mari Apache, which led to the two winning the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship on October 7. [19] Later, in the main event of the same evening, Halloween lost his hair to Dark Cuervo in an eight man tag team Domo de la Muerte . [20] [21] Halloween and Apache lost the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship to Drago and Faby Apache on July 19, 2013. [22]

Pedro Aguayo Ramírez was a Mexican professional wrestler and promoter who achieved fame in wrestling as Perro Aguayo Jr. or El Hijo del Perro Aguayo. He was the real-life son of lucha libre legend Perro Aguayo and not a storyline "Junior". Aguayo was best known as the leader of the Los Perros del Mal stable, which he started in Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) in mid-2004. The stable became a significant draw in Mexican professional wrestling, peaking during Aguayo's storyline rivalries with Místico and Héctor Garza. In October 2008, Aguayo left CMLL to start his own independent professional wrestling promotion Perros del Mal Producciones, built around members of his Los Perros del Mal stable. In June 2010, Aguayo returned to AAA after a seven-year absence to start an invasion storyline involving his stable.

Leonardo Carrera Gómez is a Mexican professional wrestler best known under the name Damián 666. He has worked for World Championship Wrestling (WCW), Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling (FMW), Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA), World Wrestling Association (WWA) and various promotions on the Mexican independent circuit, including Perros del Mal Producciones (PdM). Carrera also worked under the ring name Galaxy in WCW, a masked Luchador. Carrera often teams with Halloween, leading to the formation of the team "Mexico's Most Wanted", which has worked extensively in North America for such promotions as Xtreme Pro Wrestling (XPW) and Revolution Pro Wrestling (RPW). Carrera's son currently wrestles on the international independent circuit as Bestia 666.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Los Perros del Mal</span> Professional wrestling team

Los Perros del Mal was a Mexican Lucha libre wrestling group stable, originally competed in Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre and in Lucha Libre AAA World Wide (AAA). The name is a play on the name of the founder of the group, Perro Aguayo Jr. It was one of the main rudo (heel) stables in CMLL until October 2008, when Aguayo along with Mr. Águila and Damián 666 left the company to form Perros del Mal Producciones. The stable is a part of the new promotion, despite its namesake. Their motto is "Dios perdona, los Perros no". The group originally started under the name La Furia del Norte but evolved into Los Perros del Mal as wrestlers not from northern Mexico joined the group.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Joe Líder</span> Mexican professional wrestler

José de Jesús Álvarez Gutierrez is a Mexican professional wrestler, better known by his ringname Joe Líder. He currently competes in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA). He is known for being a former member of the tag team La Hermandad Extrema with Nicho el Millonario who, like himself, is one of several wrestlers to emerge from the independent circuit during the 1990s. Álvarez is also the real-life brother of Demoledor and had faced him on several occasions during his career, most notably, defeating him in their hometown in a "hair vs. hair" match at the Arena Victoria in January 2005.

Súper Nova is the ring name of a Mexican luchador enmascarado, or masked professional wrestler for his time working for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) as Bengala. Super Nova is the son of Luchador El Texano and the brother of El Texano, Jr. in addition to being the cousin of another Luchador called Mictlán. Súper Nova's real name is not a matter of public record, as is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico where their private lives are kept a secret from the wrestling fans. Only his paternal and maternal surnames are a matter of public record, Aguilar Leos, as his brother's real name, Juan Aguilar Leos, is publicly known.

Perros del Mal Producciones, often referred to as just 'Perros del Mal', was a Mexican professional wrestling promotion founded in October 2007 by Perro Aguayo, Jr. when he left Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre and became inactive around 2015. The promotion shared a name with Aguayo, Jr.'s wrestling stable (group) Los Perros del Mal and the stable is the main Rudo (villain) group in the promotion. The promotion had an "open door policy" which meant they did not generally have wrestlers under contract but hired them on a per appearance basis. Perros del Mal was also a booking agency, responsible for hiring the core Perros del Mal group and others to various independent promotions all over Mexico.

<i>Los Psycho Circus</i> Professional wrestling stable

Los Psycho Circus is a Lucha libre, or professional wrestling, trio who worked for the Mexico City based Lucha Libre AAA World Wide (AAA) as a rudo team. The trio consists of three enmascarado, or masked, wrestlers known under the ring names Psycho Clown, Monster Clown and Murder Clown. They are former two-time AAA World Trios Champions and were also the last holders of the Mexican National Atómicos Championship with Chessman. Los Psycho Circus is most known for an exaggerated undefeated streak since their debut in 2007, they are announced as having won over 600 matches. The streak came to an end in December 2010.

Murder Clown is the ring name of a Mexican Luchadorenmascarado, or masked professional wrestler currently signed to Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA). Murder Clown's ring character is that of a nightmarish clown and he is part of Los Psycho Circus along with Monster Clown and Psycho Clown. <span class="mw-page-title-main">Triplemanía XX</span> 2012 Lucha Libre AAA World Wide event

Triplemanía XX was a professional wrestling event scripted and produced by the AAA promotion, which took place on August 5, 2012, at Arena Ciudad de México in Mexico City, Mexico. The event was the twentieth annual Triplemanía, which is AAA's biggest show of the year, and marked AAA's debut in the new Arena Ciudad de México. The event was headlined by a match between Dr. Wagner Jr. and Máscara Año 2000 Jr., where the loser was forced to unmask himself. In the semi-main event, El Mesías defended the AAA Mega Championship against the 2012 Rey de Reyes, El Hijo del Perro Aguayo. The event also featured Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) performer Kurt Angle's AAA debut and an induction into the AAA Hall of Fame. This event marked the first time in four years that a Triplemanía was not broadcast live on pay-per-view. Instead, the event would be broadcast in three parts on AAA's official website, starting August 19. The event was attended by 21,000 people, the largest crowd for a professional wrestling event in Mexico in almost five years.

Cien Caras Jr. is a Mexican luchador enmascarado, or masked professional wrestler currently working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) portraying a rudo wrestling character. Cien Caras Jr.'s real name is not a matter of public record, as is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico where their private lives are kept a secret from the wrestling fans. He is not a blood relative of wrestler Cien Caras, but instead is using the ring name with permission from Cien Caras.

Los Capos Junior is a Mexican professional wrestling group, called a stable, which is working on the Mexican Independent circuit, including regular appearances for International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG). The group works as a rudo faction and often teams together for tag team or Trios matches. The storyline behind team is that they are all sons of one of the original Los Capos, Cien Caras and Máscara Año 2000, although only one of the four members have been confirmed as being a blood relative while two others were definitely not. The stable includes Cien Caras Jr., Hijo de Máscara Año 2000 and Máscara Año 2000 Jr.. El Hijo de Cien Caras was a part of the group until his death in 2010. Los Capos have at times also been billed as Los Hermanos Dinamita leading this team being called Los Hermanos Dinamita Junior or Los Junior Dinamitas.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">IWRG La Jaula de la Muerte</span> 2011 International Wrestling Revolution Group event

La Jaula de la Muerte was a special professional wrestling event produced by the International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG), that took place on August 28, 2011, at Arena Naucalpan in Naucalpan, State of Mexico. The focal point of the show and the inspiration for the event name was the main event steel cage match between four trios teams with each group "betting" something on the outcome of the match. Under the rules of the match the last wrestler in the cage would be deemed the loser along with his partners, losing their "bet", while the second to last person in the ring would be declared the winners of the same bet. Los Psycho Circus placed their IWRG Intercontinental Trios Championship on the line. The remaining groups all placed their wrestling mask or hair on the line and would either unmask or be shaved bald if their team lost. The last three teams were; Los Perros del Mal, Los Villanos and Los Nuevo Temerarios. Some of the matches were taped for televisiona and shown on TVC Deportes on December 25, 2011.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">IWRG Guerra de Empresas</span> International Wrestling Revolution Group event series

The title Guerra de Empresas is the name of a series of major lucha libre shows produced and scripted by the Mexico-based International Wrestling Revolution Group professional wrestling promotion. The Guerra de Empresas title has also been used by other Mexican wrestling promotions such as Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) and various Mexican independent promotions. The Guerra de Empresas always features wrestlers from two or more promotions wrestling against each other in a tournament.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Triplemanía XXIV</span> 2016 Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide event

Triplemanía XXIV was a professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced and scripted by the Mexican professional wrestling promotionLucha Libre AAA World Wide (AAA). The event took place on August 28, 2016, and was held in the Arena Ciudad de México in Mexico City, Mexico. The event Was the 24th year in a row that AAA had held a Triplemanía show, and was the 31st show held under the Triplemanía banner since 1993. The annual Triplemanía show is AAA's biggest show of the year, serving as the culmination of major storylines and feature wrestlers from all over the world competing in what has been described as AAA's version of WrestleMania or their Super Bowl event.
