Persephone (born August 3, 2001) is an American professional wrestler working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), portraying a ruda ("Bad girl") wrestling character. She previously performed as Perse and Black Widow. Previously, Persephone wrestled under a mask, which is common in lucha libre. [1] In 2023, however, she voluntarily removed her mask, which is very unusual. [2]

Career

Persephone was raised in El Paso, Texas, and has been wrestling since August 2016. She previously wrestled in the rival promotion Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA). [3]

In CMLL, Persephone notably has had a feud with Tessa Blanchard and generally portrays a rudo, which is, an evil character, as opposed to the tecnicos who are the good guys. [4] [5] Surprisingly, she won the 2024 Campeonato de Amazonas (the title for the best female wrestler in CMLL) after defeating veteran Zeuxis in the finals on October 18, 2024. [6]

Personal life

In addition to wrestling, Persephone also holds a bachelor's degree in kinesiology. [3]

The Occidente Women's Tag Team Championship is a women's professional wrestling tag team championship owned by the Mexican lucha libre promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). The championship was first introduced on March 21, 2023, where Stephanie Vaquer and Zeuxis won a one-night tournament to be crowned the inaugural champions. The current champions are Adira and Náutica, who are in their first reign as a team and individually. They defeated Hatanna and Tabata at CMLL Martes De Glamour on April 23, 2024, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.

The CMLL World Women's Tag Team Championship is a women's professional wrestling tag team championship owned by the Mexican lucha libre promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). The CMLL 91st Anniversary Show was the 91st annual CMLL Anniversary Show professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). It was held on September 13, 2024, at Arena México in Mexico City, Mexico.
