El Gallito (real name unrevealed, [lower-alpha 1] born October 26, 1991) is a Mexican luchador, or professional wrestler. He currently works for the Mexican Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) promotion where he portrays a face (known as a tecnico in lucha libre, the protagonists of professional wrestling). He is one of the competitors in CMLL's Micro-Estrella ("Micro-Star") division where he competes with and against other wrestlers with dwarfism.

He started his professional wrestling career as a mascota companion for the regular-sized wrestler El Gallo, on who El Gallito's ring persona, masks and tights are patterned on. In 2017 he became an active wrestler in the Micro-Estrella division. He was originally known as El Gallito Tapatio, Spanish for "The Little Rooster from Guadalajara", later shortened to just "The Little Rooster".

Professional wrestling career

El Gallito ("The Little Rooster") started his professional wrestling career as a mascota for El Gallo ("The Rooster") in 2012. As a mascota, he portrayed a diminutive version of El Gallo and competed as the same rooster character as him.. The rooster imagery was supported by his mask, complete with a fake cockscomb on top of his head and fabric wattles dangling from his chin. [2] As a mascota he would accompany El Gallo to the ring, the character was created primarily to appeal to children and assist El Gallo to portray a tecnico character (called a face, the protagonists in professional wrestling). [3]

Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (2017–2022)

In early 2017 CMLL recruited El Gallito, and his fellow mascotas Mije and Zacarías el Perico to help establish a Micro-Estrellas ("Micro-Stars") division, featuring only wrestlers with dwarfism. The first match of the Micro-Estrellas division took place on April 30, 2017, and saw El Gallito and Microman defeat Mije and Zacarías in a special featured match. [4] [5] For the first anniversary of the Micro-Estrellas division, CMLL held an eight-micros torneo cibernetico elimination match, featuring the entire active Micro-Estrella division at the time. [6] Gallito, Mije, Angelito, and Chamuel took on Microman, Atomo, Guapito, and Zacarías, which saw Micropan pin Chamuel to win the tournament while Galliot was the fourth to be eliminated from the match. [7]

For the 2018 Día de Muertos ("Day of the Dead") supercard show Gallito, Microman, and Atomo defeated Mije, Chamuel, and Zacarías two falls to one. [8] [9] four weeks later the Micro-Estrellas also appeared at CMLL's Leyendas Mexicanas ("Mexican Legends") show where Gallito, Microman, and Guapito defeated Mije, Chamuel, and Zacarías in the second match of the night. [10] [11] At the 2019 version of the Homenaje a Dos Leyendas ("Homage to two legends") show El Gallito and his team once again won their match. [12] With the popularity of the Micro-Estrellas division, CMLL introduced the CMLL World Micro-Estrellas Championship in December 2019. [13] El Gallito and five other Micro-Estrellas (Chamuel, Atomo, Microman, Guapito, and Zacarías) were involved in the elimination match to determine the first champion on December 25. El Gallito was the second-to-last man eliminated from the match. In the end, Chamuel pinned Microman to eliminate him and win the championship. [14] [15]

Independent circuit (2017–present)

While working for CMLL, El Gallito, like all wrestlers employed by the company, is allowed to take independent circuit bookings on days he is not needed for their shows. El Gallito's independent circuit appearances usually sees him team with, and face off against, other CMLL Micro-Estrellas. His first non-CMLL match was on June 14, 2017, on a Promociones El Cholo show in Tijuana, Baja California, and saw El Gallito and Microman defeat Mije and Zacarías by disqualification. [16] On September 15, 2018, El Gallito and Microman defeated Chamuel and Zacarías in a match at the Benito Juarez ExpoMuseo in Mexico City. [17] The Micro-Estrellas also competed at Desastre Total Ultraviolento's 11th Anniversary Show, which saw Gallito and Microman defeating Mije and Zacarías. [18] They also made a special appearance for The Crash Lucha Libre, one of Mexico's largest independent promotions, with El Gallito and Microman once again defeating Chamuel and Zacarías in their March 2, 2019 match. [19]

Reception

Súper Luchas magazine described the Micro-Estrellas division debut match between Microman and El Gallito vs. Mije and Zacarías, as "an encounter with a fall that literally stole the night." [20]

Javier Cortes Sánchez is a Mexican Luchador, or professional wrestler who works for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) in their Mini-Estrella division. Cortés is better known under the ring name Shockercito, a mascota version of wrestler Shocker. Cortés was originally an enmascarado, (masked) character, but was forced to unmask after losing a Lucha de Apuesta, or bet match, on January 11, 2009. Working in the Mini division does not necessarily mean that Cortés has dwarfism as several short wrestlers work in the "Mini" division, which is what separates the Mexican Mini-Estrella from traditional Midget wrestling as practiced in the United States among other places.

<i>Mini-Estrella</i> Professional wrestling genre

The term Mini-Estrella is used in lucha libre to describe a division of short professional wrestlers or luchadors, some of whom have dwarfism. The Mexican Mini-Estrellas are comparable to midget wrestlers who compete internationally, but with the notable exception that some of the Mini-Estrellas do not have dwarfism but are simply short. Some Mini-Estrellas have later on moved on to work as regular sized competitors. The Mini-Estrellas have been featured in several promotions outside Mexico, most notably World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA).

He is working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) in their Mini-Estrella division, which does not necessarily mean that Fantasy is a dwarf as several wrestlers who are just shorter in stature work in the "Mini" division. Pequeño Universo 2000's real name is not a matter of public record, as is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico where their private lives are kept a secret from the wrestling fans. His name means "Little Universo 2000" and his ring character is based on Universo 2000, a regular sized Luchador, whom he leases the rights to the name from.

He was initially an enmascarado ("Masked") mascot of the La Peste Negra group, helping them cheat against their opponents, but transitioned to a full-time Micro-Estrella wrestler in April 2017.

El Gallo is the ring name of a Mexican luchador enmascarado, or masked professional wrestler currently working for the Mexican Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) professional wrestling promotion. El Gallo is the son of luchador El Líder and the brother of CMLL wrestler Ráfaga. He is a former three-time Occidente Light Heavyweight Champion and currently holds the Occidente Tag Team Championship with Esfinge. El Gallo's real name is not a matter of public record, as is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico where their private lives are kept a secret from the wrestling fans. Originally he teamed up with his brother as "Estrella de Jalisco I", while his brother was known as "Estrella de Jalisco II", but changed his ring character to El Gallo in 2006. El Gallo is Spanish for "The Rooster", a name that is reflected in his mask, which is adorned by a Cockscomb and fabric wattles on his chin. Homenaje a Dos Leyendas (2019) is a major professional wrestling supercard event, produced and scripted by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre that took place on March 15, 2019. The show, like all of CMLL's major shows took place in Arena México, Mexico City, Mexico, CMLL's home venue. The event was to honor and remember CMLL founder Salvador Lutteroth, who died in March 1987. Starting in 1999 CMLL honored not just their founder during the show, but also a second lucha libre legend, making it their version of a Hall of Fame event. For the 2019 show CMLL commemorated the life and career of wrestler Blue Demon. This was the 21st March show held under the Homenaje a Dos Leyendas name, having previously been known as Homenaje a Salvador Lutteroth from 1996 to 1998.

The CMLL Día de Muertos (2019) is two professional wrestling supercard event, scripted and produced by the Mexican Lucha Libre promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), held to celebrate the Mexican Day of the Dead celebration. The shows will take place on November 1 and November 3, 2019 in CMLL's main venue, Arena México, in Mexico City, Mexico. The event was also billed as "Night of Champions", where the fans decided the opponents of the defending champions at the event. No fans were in attendance at Arena México due to limitations from the COVID-19 pandemic, but the show was broadcast as an internet pay-per-view on Ticketmaster Live.
