Career

2017–2019: Debut extended play

Carla Geneve released her debut single "Greg's Discount Chemist" in March 2018 and was released to overwhelming support from triple j and community radio. [2]

Geneve released her second single "Listening" which garnering praise for her showcases at BIGSOUND and at the end of 2018 saw her earn seven nominations at the West Australian Music Industry Awards where she won Best Single for "Greg's Discount Chemist" and Best Rock Act. [2]

In May 2019, Geneve announced the release her self-titled debut EP, released on 7 June 2019. Geneve supported San Cisco on their North America tour in June 2019. [3]

2020–2022: Learn to Like It

In 2020, Geneve released the singles "Don't Wanna Be Your Lover" and "The Right Reasons". "The Right Reasons" won the Unpublished Prize at the 2020 Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition.

In January 2021, Geneve announced the release of her debut studio album, Learn to Like It alongside its third single, "Dog Eared". The album was initially scheduled for release in April 2021, but was delayed a year. Geneve has cited the need to focus on her mental health, in particular her bipolar disorder, as a reason for the delay. [4] [5]

2023: Hertz

On 4 August 2023, Geneve released "Bills", the lead single from her second studio album, Hertz. [6]

Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition

The Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition is an annual competition that "acknowledges great songwriting whilst supporting and raising money for Nordoff-Robbins" and is coordinated by Albert Music and APRA AMCOS. It commenced in 2009. [29]

Vocalist and guitarist Gideon Bensen was a member of the band until 2016. In 2013, the Preatures won the Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition with their song "Is This How You Feel?" They disbanded in 2021, following the launch of Manfredi's solo career.

Sampa Tembo, known professionally as Sampa the Great, is a Zambian singer, rapper and songwriter. Between 2014 and 2020, she was based in Australia. Her debut solo album, The Return, peaked at No. 12 on the ARIA Albums Chart. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2019 she won Best Hip Hop Release for her second single, "Final Form". In the following year she won the same category for The Return, as well as Best Female Artist and Best Independent Release. In March 2020 Sampa became the first artist to win the Australian Music Prize twice: for Birds and the Bee9 and The Return. The artist was based back in Zambia from late 2020, where she issued her second studio album, As Above, So Below.

Confidence Man are an Australian indie electro pop band formed in 2016 in Brisbane, Queensland. They released their debut album Confident Music for Confident People in April 2018. The front-duo and their band members have been a part of many festivals across Australia, most notably Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival.

Mama Kin Spender is an Australian music duo made up of Mama Kin and Dingo Spender (Offcutts). They released their debut album Golden Magnetic in 2018 and it was nominated for the 2018 ARIA Award for Best Blues and Roots Album.

Gabriel Strum, known professionally as Japanese Wallpaper, is an Australian indie pop singer-songwriter and producer. He released his debut single "Breathe In" featuring Wafia on 10 October 2013. The song featured in Zach Braff's film Wish I Was Here. Strum has had three songs feature in the Triple J Hottest 100: "Between Friends" featuring Jesse Davidson at No. 97 (2014), "Forces" featuring Airling at No. 69 (2015) and "In Motion" featuring Allday at No. 44 (2017). Miiesha Elizabeth Rose Young, known mononymously as Miiesha, is an Australian singer-songwriter from the Aboriginal community of Woorabinda, Queensland. She was the recipient of New Talent of the Year at the 2020 National Indigenous Music Awards and won the ARIA Award for Best Soul/R&B Release at the 2020 ARIA Music Awards.
