Carlos Martinez (born June 4, 1980) is an American former professional football placekicker. His career included stints in af2 for the Fresno Frenzy, in the Arena Football League (AFL) for the Dallas Desperados, and in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys.
Martinez attended Papillion La Vista Senior High School and was a letterman and a star in football, soccer and wrestling. In football, he was a three-time All-State honoree and set the Nebraska prep record for career field goals with 28 field goals. In wrestling, he won the state championship as a senior.
Martinez played college football at Buena Vista University, and was a four-year letterman in football as a kicker. He was a three-time All-America selection, a three-time All-IIAC honoree. As a senior, he was also named the NCAA Division III Kicker of the Year and as a junior, he was named the team Special Teams Player of the Year. He is the all-time field goal leader at Buena Vista with 48 and second all-time in Division III. Martinez also excelled as a punter in college, with an average exceeding 40 yards. Martinez capped off his senior season at BVU in 2002 with a selection to play for the American Football Coaches Association Division III All-Star Team which represented the United States against Mexico National Team in the 2001 Aztec Bowl. Martinez was named the USA MVP by the media in attendance as he averaged 55.2 per punt (8-441 yds.) to consistently pin Mexico deep in its own end in the contest.
Martinez returned to BVU in the fall of 2006 as an assistant football coach before being signed by the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys released Martinez in May 2007.
In 2010, Martinez returned for the Orlando Predators in the Arena Football League. He missed the kick to advance the Orlando Predators to ArenaBowl XXIII, however, he had a league-high 13 field goals, and made 104 PATs.
His performance earned him another signing for an outdoor American football league, with the Florida Tuskers of the United Football League.
As a member of the Philadelphia Soul in 2013, Martinez was named Second-team All-Arena. [2] Martinez was assigned to the Soul for the 2014 season on October 29, 2013.

Michael John Vanderjagt is a Canadian former football placekicker who played in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons, primarily with the Indianapolis Colts. He served as the Colts' placekicker from 1998 to 2005 and was a member of the Dallas Cowboys during his final NFL season in 2006. Prior to the NFL, Vanderjagt played four seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL), three with the Toronto Argonauts and one with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Nicholas Ryan Novak is an American former professional football placekicker. He played college football at Maryland and was signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2005.
In gridiron football, the holder is the player who receives the snap from the long snapper during field goal or extra point attempts made by the placekicker. The holder is set on one knee seven yards behind the line-of-scrimmage. Before the play begins, the holder places the hand which is closest to the placekicker on the ground in a location designated by the kicker's foot, with their forward hand ready to receive the snap. After receiving the snap, the holder will place the football on the turf, or block, ideally with the laces facing the uprights and the ball accurately placed where the backhand was initially, then balancing the ball with one or two fingers until the ball is kicked.
Aaron Scott Mills is an American former Arena Football League (AFL) kicker who, in a career lasting two years, played for the San Jose SaberCats (1995–1996). He holds the AFL league record for the longest field goal, with a 63-yard field goal in a 1996 game.
Ernest Allen signed as a Free agent in 1995 to the NFL Seattle Seahawks as a defensive tackle, then signing with the NFL Europe's Rhein Fire in 1996 to the same position. Then was signed to the Arena Football League offensive lineman/defensive lineman. He has previously played for the Florida Bobcats (1996), the Albany Firebirds (1997), the Milwaukee Mustangs (1998–1999), the Orlando Predators (2000–2003), the Dallas Desperados (2004–2005) and the Philadelphia Soul (2006), completing his career with the Georgia Force (2007–2008). Ranks second in league history in tackles for loss and one of the top 10 players in league history in sacks, also being selected to five All-Arena Teams during his career. He was named Second Team All-Arena in 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2006.
Kevin Gaines is an Arena Football League defensive specialist for the Philadelphia Soul, recently signed from the Georgia Force where he played for three seasons and was named Second Team All-Arena in 2004 and 2005. He previously played for the Orlando Predators, the New Jersey Red Dogs/Gladiators, the Florida Bobcats, the Carolina Cobras and the Grand Rapids Rampage. He also played for the London Monarchs in the World League of American Football. Despite Kevin Gaine's time as an Orlando Predator, he has no professional NFL experience.
