"Carry You" is the debut single by English boy band Union J. It was released in Ireland and the United Kingdom on 2 June 2013 as the lead single from their debut studio album, Union J (2013).
During a performance in Cardiff on 15 December 2012, Union J announced that they had signed a recording contract with Sony Music. [1] It was later revealed, in January 2013, that the record label was that of sub-division, RCA Records. [2] On 14 January, it was announced that Union J were in London recording their debut single that day, [3] and on 8 April 2013, the group confirmed the title and release of their debut single, "Carry You". [4] This was followed by the unveiling of the accompanying artwork, which also debuted the band's logo. [5]
The track was given its radio premiere on 22 April, which was followed by the upload of an audio version of the single on the official Vevo account for Union J. [6] Whilst explaining the meaning behind the single, band member Jaymi Hensley said, "The message of the song is [that] we've been on a massive rollercoaster the last year with each other, and it's about being there for each other." [7] He also revealed, "It's there for the fans, we really wouldn't be here without them." [7]
On 30 March 2013, Union J announced via their official Twitter account that the music video for the single had been filmed. [8] An official teaser for the video was uploaded to the group's Vevo account on 26 April 2013. [9] The full video first premiered through Capital TV on 29 April. [10]
The video was filmed in Nottingham and includes the band shopping, skateboarding and performing a gig. George Shelley had to learn how to skateboard, while JJ Hamblett said he disliked having to ride a pink flowery bicycle, admitting he would "rather be on a horse." [11]
In July 2013, a second video for the track was released, featuring scenes from Kick-Ass 2 , which features the track. Clips of the music video were also featured in a scene of the film.
Robert Copsey of Digital Spy gave the song a mixed review, while mentioning how Union J's constant comparisons to One Direction could hinder future success.
Union J's post-X Factor debut is a highly calculated exercise in muscling their way in without ruffling too many feathers. "Don't ever say you're lonely/ Just lay your problems on me" George Shelley insists over defiant piano and spacious synths, ahead of a cutesy chorus with a suitably niggling hook. The result achieves its objective, but in doing so, lacks the impact needed for survival.

The track was performed live for the first time at Futurehits Live 2013. Union J performed the song on Britain's Got More Talent on 30 May 2013. [13] They also sang it at Capital FM's Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium on 9 June 2013 [14] and at Chester Rocks 2013 on 15 June. [15]

Cher Lloyd is an English singer. She finished fourth place on the seventh series of the television talent show The X Factor in 2010. Following the show, Lloyd was signed to Syco Music in the United Kingdom and Epic Records in the United States. She released her debut studio album, Sticks and Stones, in 2011, which had two releases: its standard edition and a US version. The album peaked at number four on the UK Albums Chart, while the latter version debuted at number nine in the US Billboard 200. "Picking Up the Pieces" is a song by English recording artist Paloma Faith from her second studio album Fall to Grace. Produced by Nellee Hooper and written by Faith, Wayne Hector and Tim Powell, it was released as the album's first single on 18 May 2012. Faith revealed "Picking Up the Pieces" was inspired by the issues and insecurity of dating someone who is recovering from a previous relationship. The artwork for the single was revealed on 5 April 2012.
"More Than This" is a song by English-Irish boy band One Direction from their debut studio album, Up All Night (2011). It was produced by Brian Rawling and Paul Meehan, and was composed by Jamie Scott. Primarily backed by synthesizers, the track is an acoustic pop ballad about an unrequited love. "More than This", the album's fourth and final single, was released digitally by Syco Music on 25 May 2012.
"Black Heart" is a song by British girl group Stooshe, taken from their debut album London with the Lights On (2013). Produced and written by Future Cut in collaboration with Jo Perry and Shaznay Lewis, it was released as the album's second official single by Warner Music UK from 15 June 2012. "Black Heart" is a ballad with a "Motown-esque" feel about it. Group member Courtney Rumbold revealed the song showcases Stooshe's different range, tones and styles. The lyrics to "Black Heart" talk of the issues of being in a relationship with a cheating lover. The cover art for "Black Heart" was released on 17 May. It depicts the girls in illustrated outfits and Jenny Mensah of 4Music called it "loud, bright and colourful".
"30 Minute Love Affair" is a song performed by English recording artist Paloma Faith. It was released on 10 August 2012, by RCA Records, as the second single from her second studio album Fall to Grace (2012). The song was written by Faith and Chris Braide, while Nellee Hooper produced it. Faith explained that the concept of the song is based on a real-life encounter she had with a busker when she was fourteen. The singer said that she wanted the song to have a similar feel of freedom and escape that the 2011 film Drive evokes.
"Call My Name" is a song by English singer Cheryl taken from her third studio album, A Million Lights (2012). It was written and produced by Calvin Harris, with Kuk Harrell producing Cole's vocals. It was released as the lead single from the album on 18 May 2012 by Polydor Records' imprint Fascination. "Call My Name" is a dance-pop and EDM song that was compared by critics to songs produced by Harris for other singers.
"Slip" is a song by British girl-group Stooshe from their debut album London with the Lights On. Produced by Future Cut, it was released as the album's third single by Warner Music UK from 12 May 2013. Stooshe released the official artwork for the single on 20 March 2013. "Slip" is about a partner who has become comfortable in a relationship and has forgotten how to be romantic.
Union J are an English boy band, consisting of members JJ Hamblett, Jaymi Hensley, George Shelley and Josh Cuthbert. Shelley left the group in 2016 and was replaced by Casey Johnson, who left several months later, Cuthbert left the group in 2018 leaving the band as duo until they disbanded in 2019. Freedom is the second studio album by English singer-songwriter Rebecca Ferguson, and was released on 2 December 2013 in the United Kingdom, a day after the release of the album's lead single "I Hope". The album received positive reviews from critics, praising her vocals and movement away from her soul-influenced debut album, Heaven, into a more R&B, club-orientated sound.
