Castle Peak Bay is a bay outside Tuen Mun. Tuen Mun River empties into the bay. In the past,many Tanka fishermen harboured at the bay. [1]
In 1513,explorer Jorge Álvares arrived in the Pearl River Delta and started a Portuguese settlement,Tamão. One source specifically states that it was located at the "bay of Tunmen ... now called Castle Peak". [2]
There are several barbecue sites and recreation facilities near the bay including the Castle Peak Beach and other beaches. Castle Peak Bay is served by MTR Bus routes K51,K58,Kowloon Motor Bus 52X and 53. [3] [4] [5] [6]
Tuen Mun District is one of the 18 administrative districts of Hong Kong. It is the westernmost continental district of Hong Kong. It had a population of 487,546 in 2011. Part of the district is the Tuen Mun New Town,which contains one of the largest residential areas in the New Territories.

Tuen Mun Road is a major expressway in Hong Kong which connects Tuen Mun with Tsuen Wan,within the New Territories. It is part of Hong Kong's Route 9,which circumnavigates the New Territories. Opened in 1978,it was once the major trunk route linking the northwest New Territories to urban Kowloon and is known for its frequent traffic jams and road accidents owing to its early design and heavy usage. As a result,speed limits have been enforced to 70–80 km/h (45–50 mph) due to geometric constraints.
MTR Bus is a public non-franchised bus service in Hong Kong operated by the MTR Corporation,serving the northwestern part of the New Territories. It comprises a network of 22 feeder bus routes for the convenience of passengers using the MTR rapid transit network,providing access to and between many MTR stations on the Tuen Ma line and Light Rail.
Tuen Mun or Castle Peak is an area near the mouth of Tuen Mun River and Castle Peak Bay in the New Territories,Hong Kong. Sam Shing Estate is a public housing estate in Tuen Mun,New Territories,Hong Kong,near Light Rail Sam Shing stop and Castle Peak Beach. Built on the reclaimed land of Castle Peak Bay,it is the third public housing estate in Tuen Mun and the estate consists of 3 residential blocks completed in 1980. It was named for nearby Sam Shing Hui,a fishing village in the district,and most of the residents in the estate were fishermen.

Castle Peak Beach is a gazetted beach in Tuen Mun,Hong Kong,beside Sam Shing Estate. It looks onto Castle Peak Bay and the Tuen Mun typhoon shelter,although it is separated from the typhoon shelter by a breakwater.
