The Catholic Church, also known as the Roman Catholic Church, is the largest Christian church, with approximately 1.3 billion baptised Catholics worldwide as of 2017. As the world's "oldest continuously functioning international institution", it has played a prominent role in the history and development of Western civilisation. The church is headed by the Bishop of Rome, known as the Pope. Its central administration, the Holy See, is in the Vatican City, an enclave within the city of Rome in Italy.

The pope, also known as the supreme pontiff, is the Bishop of Rome and ex officio leader of the worldwide Catholic Church. Since 1929, the pope has also been head of state of Vatican City, a city-state enclaved within Rome, Italy. The current pope is Francis, who was elected on 13 March 2013, succeeding Benedict XVI.

There are approximately 60,000 Catholics in Swaziland - around 5% of the total population. The country forms a single diocese - the Diocese of Manzini. [1]

The Catholic Church began in Swaziland in 1913 with the arrivial of Servite missionaries who began work in Mbabane. Two of Swaziland's bishops were born in Swaziland, MandleNkhosi Zwane and Ncamiso Ndlovu. [2]

Religion in Eswatini

Christianity is the dominant religion in Eswatini. The relative prevalence percentage vary by source. According to Pew Research, over 88% of the total 1.2 million population of Eswatini express Christianity to be their faith, over 10% express no affiliation. According to the US State Department religious freedom report of 2012, local religious leaders estimate that 90% of Eswatini's population is Christian, 0.2% is Muslim, while under 10% belong to other religious groups. According to the CIA world fact book, the distribution is 40% Zionist, 20% Roman Catholic, Muslim 0.2%, other 30%. In other sources such as Clay Potts, the religious demographics are 80% Christian, and 20% Traditional Swazi religion.

Education in Eswatini begins with pre-school education for infants, primary, secondary and high school education for general education and training (GET) - and universities and colleges at tertiary level.

Matsapha is a town in central Eswatini. The Matsapha urban boundary is defined in the Urban Government Act of 1969, and it was amended in 2012, and it covers an area approximately 2,000 hectares. Matsapha was established as an industrial park in 1965 but was official gazetted as an urban area in 1969. Matsapha is located in the Upper Middleveld of Eswatini. It is located in the Manzini region, which is in the centre of the country. St Joseph's School is a public co-educational school in rural Eswatini. The school is located on a Catholic mission complex run by the Servite Order. The postal address of the school is Mzimpofu; however Mzimpofu is the simply the name of the post office at the mission and not that of an actual city or village. St Joseph's is well known in Eswatini for integrating the education of students with disabilities with normally-abled students.

The 2018–19 Eswatini Premier League is the 41st season of the Eswatini Premier League, the top-tier football league in Eswatini, since its establishment in 1971. The season started on 14 September 2018.
