Ceratocanthus is a genus of pill scarab beetles in the family Hybosoridae. There are more than 50 described species in Ceratocanthus. [1] [2] [3]
These 53 species belong to the genus Ceratocanthus:
Hybosoridae, sometimes known as the scavenger scarab beetles, is a family of scarabaeiform beetles. The 690 species in 97 genera occur widely in the tropics, but little is known of their biology.
Flower chafers are a group of scarab beetles, comprising the subfamily Cetoniinae. Many species are diurnal and visit flowers for pollen and nectar, or to browse on the petals. Some species also feed on fruit. The group is also called fruit and flower chafers, flower beetles and flower scarabs. There are around 4,000 species, many of them still undescribed.
Omorgus is a genus of beetles of the family Trogidae with about 140 species worldwide. Omorgus beetles are generally between 9 and 20 mm long.
Coprophanaeus is a genus of Scarabaeidae or scarab beetles.
Ceratocanthinae is a subfamily of the scarabaeoid beetle family Hybosoridae. It includes three tribes comprising 43 genera and 366 species; it was formerly treated as a separate family, Ceratocanthidae.
Coprini is a tribe of scarab beetles, in the dung beetle subfamily (Scarabaeinae). Scholtz et al. describe them as tunnellers that are shiny black, of moderate to large size and with a strongly convex shape. They also, however state that the grouping based on these characteristics has little phylogenetic validity, and the placement of several genera in this and related tribes is likely to change.
Aphodiini is a tribe of aphodiine dung beetles in the family Scarabaeidae. There are more than 250 genera and 2,200 described species in Aphodiini.
Germarostes is a genus of pill scarab beetles in the family Hybosoridae. There are at least 70 described species in Germarostes.
Eucanthus is a genus of earth-boring scarab beetles in the family Bolboceratidae. There are about eight described species in Eucanthus.
Leiopsammodius is a genus of aphodiine dung beetles in the family Scarabaeidae. There are more than 40 described species in Leiopsammodius.
Platytomus is a genus of aphodiine dung beetles in the family Scarabaeidae. There are more than 20 described species in Platytomus.
Ateuchini is a tribe of dung beetles in the family Scarabaeidae. There are at least 30 genera and 370 described species in Ateuchini.
Thalycra is a genus of sap-feeding beetles in the family Nitidulidae. There are at least 20 described species in Thalycra.
Trigonopeltastes is a genus of fruit and flower chafers in the beetle family Scarabaeidae, found in North and Central America. There are more than 20 described species in Trigonopeltastes.
Saprosites is a genus of scarab beetles in the family Scarabaeidae. There are more than 130 described species in Saprosites.
