Chamaemyia hungarica is a species of fly in the family Chamaemyiidae. [1] It is only found in Hungary. [2]
The Lauxanioidea are a superfamily of flies that includes the two large families, the Lauxaniidae and Chamaemyiidae, and the small family Celyphidae. Generally, they are small to medium, densely populated, coloured flies. The Chamaemyiidae live as parasites on insects. The family Celyphidae look like beetles.
The Chamaemyiidae are a small family of acalyptrate flies with less than 200 species described worldwide. The larvae of these small flies are active and predatory and are often used for biological control of aphids, scale insects, and similar pests. Chamaemyiid fossils are poorly represented in amber deposits, but a few examples are known from the Eocene epoch onwards.
Helicopsis striata is a species of air-breathing land snail, terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk in the family Geomitridae.
Listrognathosuchus is an extinct genus of alligatoroid crocodilian. Fossils date back to the middle Paleocene epoch. In 1997, the generic name replaced that of Leidyosuchus for the species L. multidentatus. "L." multidentalis was first described by Charles Mook in 1930 on the basis of the holotype AMNH 5179, consisting of a partial vertebral column, mandible, partial left ilium, and left tibia, found from a locality in Torrejon Arroyo, New Mexico.
The Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Society (MME), also known as BirdLife Hungary, is a non-profit ornithological and nature conservation organisation founded in Hungary in 1974. Its mission is to protect wild birds and help preserve biodiversity. It has about 10,000 members, employs 26 staff, and is the Hungarian partner organisation of BirdLife International. Since 1991 it has published the journal Ornis Hungarica.
Chamaemyia is a genus of flies in the family Chamaemyiidae. It is the type genus of its family.
Chamaemyia elegans is a species of fly in the family Chamaemyiidae. It is widely distributed in Europe.
Chamaemyia flavipalpis is a species of fly in the family Chamaemyiidae. It is found in the Palearctic. and North Africa.
The Cremifaniidae are a very small family of acalyptrate flies with only 4 described species worldwide. All species are considered rare, and nothing is known of their life history. They were formerly placed in the family Chamaemyiidae.
Eximilimosina is a genus of flies belonging to the family Lesser Dung flies.
Leucopis is a genus of flies in the family Chamaemyiidae. There are at least 20 described species in Leucopis. Flies from this genus are used in biological control of adelgids.
Chamaemyia nigripalpis is a species of fly in the family Chamaemyiidae. It is found in the Great Britain. Its body length is about 2.5 mm (0.10 in). The type series was collected from a patch of Calamagrostis epigejos where it was repeatedly observed through May to August.
Chamaemyia paludosa is a species of fly in the family Chamaemyiidae. It is found in Europe and North America. Its body length is about 3 mm (0.12 in).
