Charokee Young (born 21 August 2000) is a track and field athlete from Jamaica. [1]

Career

Young came third in the Jamaican national championships over 400 metres in 2022. At the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon Young qualified from the heats for the semi finals in the 400 meters where she placed 16th in 51.41 and ran in the 4 x 400 metres relay in which the team won the silver medal. [2]

In February 2024, she competed in the 400 metres at the 2024 World Athletics Championships in Glasgow. [3] [4] She was part of the 4x400m relay team which reached the final in Glasgow. [5]

In April 2024, she was selected as part of the Jamiacan team for the 2024 World Athletics Relays in Nassau, Bahamas. [6] In July 2024, she was officially selected for the Jamaican team at the 2024 Paris Olympics. [7]

Charokee Young is a 2-time NCAA Division 1 champion, former collegiate outdoor 4x400 m relay record holder, 9-time NCAA Division 1 All-American sprinter & Southeastern Conference Champion.

The 4 × 400 metres relay or long relay is an athletics track event in which teams consist of four runners who each complete 400 metres or one lap. It is traditionally the final event of a track meet. At top class events, the first leg and the first bend of the second leg are run in lanes. Start lines are thus staggered over a greater distance than in an individual 400 metres race; the runners then typically move to the inside of the track. Margaret Bamgbose is a Nigerian track and field sprinter who specialises in the 400 metres. She was an 11 All-Time American at University of Notre Dame.

Suziann Reid is an American-Jamaican former track and field sprinter who specialized in the 400-meter dash. She set a personal record of 50.74 seconds for the distance in 1999. She was a silver medalist with the American women's 4 × 400-meter relay team at the 1999 World Championships in Athletics. She was part of the World Championship team twice more, in 2001 and 2005, and helped the United States to silver at the 2002 IAAF World Cup and gold at the 2001 Goodwill Games.

Kerley claimed 100 m gold in the 2022 edition.

Matthew Boling is an American track and field athlete specializing in the sprints and long jump. He won four gold medals at the 2019 Pan American U20 Championships in the 100 m, 200 m, 4 × 100 m relay and 4 × 400 m relay, and helped set world under-20 records in both of the relay races for the United States. He also ran in the semi-final for the American 4 × 400 m relay team at the 2018 World U20 Championships that went on to earn silver in the final. Boling would later go on to win a gold medal at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in the mixed 4 x 400 m relay, and would help set a world record for the event in the process.
