Chess at the 2013 Bolivarian Games

The chess competitions for the 2013 Bolivarian Games took place in Chiclayo from 19 November to 25 November 2013. Only a women's team event and a mixed team event were contested for medals at these Games. [1]

Nakamura won the 2011 edition of Tata Steel Chess Tournament Group A and has represented the United States at five Chess Olympiads, winning a team gold medal and two team bronze medals. With a peak rating of 2816, Nakamura is the tenth-highest rated player in history. The 2013 Bolivarian Games, officially the XVII Bolivarian Games, was a major international multi-sport event that was held from November 16–30, 2013, in Trujillo, Peru, with some events held in Lima and Chiclayo. Approximately 4,500 athletes from 11 nations participated in 44 sports. These Games was the third Bolivarian Games that was hosted by Peru. Previously, Peru hosted the 1947–48 Bolivarian Games and the 1997 Bolivarian Games. Since 2011, Trujillo was preparing the sport buildings for the Bolivarian Games.

The 2012 Bolivarian Beach Games, officially the I Bolivarian Beach Games, is an international multi-sport event that is being held from November 1–11, 2012 in Lima, Peru. With approximately 1,500 athletes from 10 nations participating in 15 sports. The Bolivarian Beach are organized by the ODEBO, the Bolivarian Sports Organization.

Inline speed skating, for the 2013 Bolivarian Games, took place from 24 November to 26 November 2013. The events, for this sport, were held in an indoor track venue.

Handball, for the 2013 Bolivarian Games, took place from 17 November to 21 November 2013.

The Pan American Team Chess Championship is an international team chess tournament open to national federations affiliated to FIDE in the Americas. It is organized by the Confederation of Chess for America (CCA), and the winner qualifies to participate at the next World Team Chess Championship.
