The Bolivarian Games are a regional multi-sport event held in honor of Simón Bolívar, and organized by the Bolivarian Sports Organization. The event is open to athletes from Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela. In 2010, the ODEBO decided to include Chile as the seventh member of ODEBO. Except Panama, all other participating countries are Andean states.
The III Bolivarian Games were a multi-sport event held between December 5–21, 1951, at the Estadio Olímpico de la Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas, Venezuela. The Games were organized by the Bolivarian Sports Organization (ODEBO).
The V Bolivarian Games were a multi-sport event held between November 20 - December 5, 1965, in Quito and Guayaquil, Ecuador. The Games were organized by the Bolivarian Sports Organization (ODEBO).
Yuderqui Maridalia Contreras, also known as Yudelkis Contreras, is a Dominican Republican weightlifter. She went to the 2008 Summer Olympics where she was 5th. After the Games, she was accused of failing a doping control, but the case ended with her name cleared. She was one of the two athletes that represented her home country in weightlifting at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She failed her three attempts in the snatch stage ending with no mark.
Oliba Seledina Nieves Arroyo is a female weightlifter from Ecuador. She won a gold medal at the 2007 Pan American Games for her native South American country in the + 75 kg weight division.
The XVI Bolivarian Games were a multi-sport event held in 2009 in Sucre, Bolivia. The competitions in Sucre took place from 15–26 November. A number of Bolivian cities hosted some of the sporting events, including Cochabamba, Santa Cruz and Tarija. Also, events were held outside of Bolivia, with Guayaquil, Lima, Quito and Salinas hosting a number of competitions. The Games were organized by the Bolivarian Sports Organization (ODEBO).
Athletics at the 2009 Bolivarian Games was held at the Estadio Olímpico Patria in Sucre, Bolivia, between November 22–26, 2009. A total of 47 events were contested, 24 by men and 23 by women. In total, 7 games records were set or equaled.
Beatriz Elizabeth Pirón Candelario is a Dominican weightlifter. She won the bronze medal in snatch at the 2011 Youth World Championships and gold at the 2011 Youth Pan American Championships. She went to the 2012 Summer Olympics ranking in the 9th place and the 2016 Summer Olympics ranking fourth.
Badminton, for the 2013 Bolivarian Games, took place from 17 November to 21 November 2013.
Underwater sports, for the 2013 Bolivarian Games, took place from 17 November to 29 November 2013. The three sports chosen for these Games were finswimming, free-diving and spearfishing. The two free-diving events was contested at the Sports complex Mansiche's pool. The long distance finswimming was held at Salaverry. Spearfishing events were held in waters north of the island of San Lorenzo located to the west of Callao.
Softball, for the 2013 Bolivarian Games, took place from 23 November to 30 November 2013. Women's under 23 team competed at these Games. The Dominican Republic won the gold medal ahead of silver medalists Venezuela and Colombia, Bronze.
The weightlifting competition at the 2014 Pan American Sports Festival was held in Mexico City. The tournament was held from 19–21 July at the Centro Nacional de Desarrollo de Talentos Deportivos y Alto Rendimiento.
Neisi Patricia DájomesBarrera is an Ecuadorian weightlifter, who is the 2020 Tokyo 76 kg Olympic Champion, a 6 time Pan American Champion, Pan American Games Champion and a 3 time Junior World Champion. As of 2024, she is the only female Ecuadorian athlete to win multiple Olympic medals. She competed in the 75 kg category until 2018 and 76 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. She is the older sister of Angie Palacios.
Jhor Esneider Moreno Torres is a Colombian weightlifter. He won the bronze medal in the men's 96 kg event at the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships held in Bogotá, Colombia. He also won the bronze medal in the men's 77 kg event at the 2015 Pan American Games held in Toronto, Canada. He is also a two-time gold medalist at the Pan American Weightlifting Championships.
Yeimar Mendoza Carabalí is a Colombian weightlifter. He is a two-time gold medalist at the Bolivarian Games and a three-time medalist, including gold, at the Pan American Weightlifting Championships.
The weightlifting competitions at the 2022 Bolivarian Games took place in the Polideportivo Colegio Andrés Escobar Court in Valledupar, Colombia from 1 to 5 July 2022.
