China competed in the inaugural 2006 World Baseball Classic and finished 15th in the tournament. It also competed in the 2009 World Baseball Classic, managed by Terry Collins. In the 2009 tournament, China recorded a 4–1 win over Chinese Taipei but was eliminated after losses to Japan and South Korea.[ citation needed ]

The highest rank it has achieved is 6th, and its current rank is 10th.

They are ranked as the top and one of the most successful baseball teams in South Asia, winning the first SAARC Baseball Championship 8–2 against Sri Lanka in 2011. As of 2023, Pakistan is currently ranked 38th in the world by the World Baseball Softball Confederation.
