Classic Cola is a cola made for Sainsbury's Supermarkets in the United Kingdom. [1] It was launched in the mid-1990s and, unlike other store brand colas, which are seen as cheap versions of the real thing, this was designed to be a worthy competitor to main rivals Coca-Cola and Pepsi and the other new contender in the cola business at that time, Virgin Cola, during a period of time which the UK media dubbed "the cola wars". Sainsbury's continues to sell Classic Cola, but it no longer has the same brand recognition as the two major brands[ citation needed ]. Virgin Cola disappeared from the UK market in 2012.
Coca-Cola, or Coke, is a carbonated soft drink manufactured by The Coca-Cola Company. Originally marketed as a temperance drink and intended as a patent medicine, it was invented in the late 19th century by John Stith Pemberton and was bought out by businessman Asa Griggs Candler, whose marketing tactics led Coca-Cola to its dominance of the world soft-drink market throughout the 20th century. The drink's name refers to two of its original ingredients: coca leaves, and kola nuts. The current formula of Coca-Cola remains a trade secret; however, a variety of reported recipes and experimental recreations have been published.
Cola is a sweetened, carbonated soft drink flavored with vanilla, cinnamon, citrus oils and other flavorings. Most contain caffeine, which was originally sourced from the kola nut, leading to the drink's name, though other sources are now also used. Cola became popular worldwide after pharmacist John Pemberton invented Coca-Cola in 1886, which was later imitated by other manufacturers. His non-alcoholic recipe was inspired by the coca wine of pharmacist Angelo Mariani, created in 1863.

Umbrella branding is a marketing practice involving the use of a single brand name for the sale of two or more related products. Umbrella branding is mainly used by companies with a positive brand equity. All products use the same means of identification and lack additional brand names or symbols etc. This marketing practice differs from brand extension in that umbrella branding involves the marketing of similar products, rather than differentiated products, under one brand name. Hence, umbrella branding may be considered as a type of brand extension. The practice of umbrella branding does not disallow a firm to implement different branding approaches for different product lines.
