Coillina is a monotypic genus of East Asian ground spiders containing the single species, Coillina baka. It was first described by C. M. Yin & X. J. Peng in 1998, [2] and has only been found in China. [1]
The genus Argiope includes rather large spiders that often have a strikingly coloured abdomen. These spiders are distributed throughout the world. Most countries in tropical or temperate climates host one or more species that are similar in appearance. The etymology of Argiope is from a Latin word argentum meaning silver. The carapace of Argiope species is typically covered in silvery hairs.
Featheroides is a genus of Chinese jumping spiders that was first described by X. J. Peng in 1994. As of June 2019 it contains only two species, found only in China: F. typica and F. yunnanensis.
Pancorius is a genus of Asian jumping spiders that was first described by Eugène Louis Simon in 1902. They are similar to Hyllus.
Plexippoides is a genus of jumping spiders that was first described by Jerzy Prószyński in 1984. The name means "having the likeness of Plexippus"
Synagelides is a genus of Asian jumping spiders that was first described by W. Bösenberg & Embrik Strand in 1906. This genus and Agorius are separated as a genus group, sometimes called subfamily Agoriinae, but more recently downranked to tribe Agoriini of the Salticoida clade in subfamily Salticinae.
Neoscona, known as spotted orb-weavers and barn spiders, is a genus of orb-weaver spiders (Araneidae) first described by Eugène Simon in 1895 to separate these from other araneids in the now obsolete genus Epeira. The name Neoscona was derived from the Greek νέω, meaning "spin", and σχοῐνος, meaning "reed" They have a mostly pantropical distribution and one species, Neoscona adianta, has a palearctic distribution. As of April 2019 there are eight species that can be found in the United States and Canada:
Cyrtophora, the tent-web spiders, is a genus of orb-weaver spiders first described by Eugène Simon in 1895. Although they are in the "orb weaver" family, they do not build orb webs. Their tent-like, highly complex non-sticky web is sometimes considered a precursor of the simplified orb web. These webs are aligned horizontally, with a network of supporting threads above them. These spiders often live in colonies. Females have a body length of mostly about 10 millimetres (0.39 in) long. Some members, including Cyrtophora cicatrosa, exhibit the ability to change colour rapidly.
Macrothele is a genus of mygalomorph spiders in the family Macrothelidae, and was first described by A. Ausserer in 1871. It is the only genus in the family Macrothelidae, and most species occur in Asia, from India to Japan, and Java, with four found in Africa, and two in Europe. The name is derived from Ancient Greek μακρός ("makro-"), meaning "big", and θηλή ("thele"), referring to the spinnerets.
Tonsilla is a genus of East Asian funnel weavers first described by J. F. Wang & C. M. Yin in 1992.
Larinia is a genus of orb-weaver spiders first described by Eugène Simon in 1874.
Coelotes is a genus of funnel weavers first described by John Blackwall in 1841. A large number of species are found throughout Europe and Asia.
Utivarachna is a genus of Asian araneomorph spiders in the family Trachelidae first described by Kyukichi Kishida in 1940. It was largely ignored until Christa L. Deeleman-Reinhold revised the sac and ground spiders in 2001, transferring some species from Trachelas and adding several new ones. The genus was further expanded in 2014 and 2015.
Iwogumoa is a genus of Asian funnel weavers first described by Kyukichi Kishida in 1955.
Leptonetela is a genus of leptonetids that was first described by J. Kratochvíl in 1978.
Wolongia is a genus of Asian long-jawed orb-weavers that was first described by M. S. Zhu, J. P. Kim & D. X. Song in 1997.
Eriovixia is a genus of orb-weaver spiders first described by Allan Frost Archer in 1951.
Allozelotes is a genus of East Asian ground spiders that was first described by C. M. Yin & X. J. Peng in 1998.
Spheropistha is a genus of Asian comb-footed spiders that was first described by T. Yaginuma in 1957.
Takayus is a genus of Asian comb-footed spiders that was first described by H. Yoshida in 2001.
Phrurolithus is a genus of araneomorph spiders first described by C. L. Koch in 1839. First placed with the Liocranidae, it was moved to the Corinnidae in 2002, then to the Phrurolithidae in 2014.
