Collins was an unincorporated community in Napa County, California. [1] It lies at an elevation of 49 feet (15 m). [1] Collins is located on the Southern Pacific Railroad, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) south of Napa Junction. [2] In 1992, the community was annexed and incorporated into American Canyon.
In law, an unincorporated area is a region of land that is not governed by a local municipal corporation; similarly an unincorporated community is a settlement that is not governed by its own local municipal corporation, but rather is administered as part of larger administrative divisions, such as a township, parish, borough, county, city, canton, state, province or country. Napa County is a county north of San Pablo Bay in the northern portion of the U.S. state of California. As of the 2010 census, the population was 136,484. The county seat is the City of Napa. Napa County was one of the original counties of California, created in 1850 at the time of statehood. Parts of the county's territory were given to Lake County in 1861.
