Comfort Eagle is the fourth studio album by American alternative rock band Cake. It was released on July 24, 2001, on Columbia Records, their first with the company.
In its opening week, Comfort Eagle sold about 72,000 copies, debuting at number 13 on the Billboard 200. [1] By 2002, the album had sold 408,000 copies. [2] On February 2, 2003, it was certified gold by the RIAA for shipments of half a million copies. [3]
The album's lead single was "Short Skirt/Long Jacket." The band asked fans to vote for the album's second single via their website, with the album's title track "Comfort Eagle" being the eventual winner, however this single release was cancelled after the September 11 attacks. The band wrote: "Due to unforeseen changes in national media, CAKE must now change its upcoming single from 'Comfort Eagle' to 'Love You Madly.' We apologize to those of you who voted for the latter, but due to its airplane, corporate, and Middle Eastern references, 'Comfort Eagle' has been deemed inappropriate for today's emotional climate." Cake is an American rock band from Sacramento, California, consisting of singer John McCrea, trumpeter Vince DiFiore, guitarist Xan McCurdy, bassist Daniel McCallum, and drummer Todd Roper. The band has been noted for McCrea's sarcastic lyrics and deadpan vocals, and their wide-ranging musical influences, including norteño, country music, mariachi, disco, rock, funk, folk music, and hip hop.
Evolution is the fifth studio album by American rock band Journey, released in March 1979 by Columbia Records. It is the band's first album to feature drummer Steve Smith.
Machine is the second studio album by American industrial metal band Static-X, released on May 22, 2001, and recorded at Studio 508. When compared to the band's other albums, Machine features more electronics and industrial effects, and more screamed vocals from Wayne Static. The second single "Carbon Monoxide" garnered some airplay but failed to crack the Modern Rock Tracks top 40. The album was the band's second and last record under Columbia Records.

John McCrea is an American singer and musician. He is a founding member of the band Cake. He is the vocalist and primary lyricist for the band, in addition to playing acoustic guitar, vibraslap, and piano. He also programs drums and does mixing work while he and the rest of the band have produced all of their albums.

Released in 1994 on Arista Records, the album was certified platinum by the RIAA for sales of one million copies in the U.S. Four singles were released from the album: the title track, followed by "Night Is Fallin' in My Heart", "Bubba Hyde", and finally "Finish What We Started". The musical style of Showroom of Compassion is grounded in the band's unique style of alternative rock, combining droll, often esoteric lyrics rife with word play and syncopation, catchy distorted guitar riffs, complex bass patterns, Moog and prominent use of trumpet. Cake's former lead guitarist, Greg Brown, makes a guest appearance on the song "Bound Away", his first appearance on a Cake album since 1996's Fashion Nugget.
