Mid-term parliamentary elections were held in Costa Rica on 11 February 1934. [1] The result was a victory for the Independent National Republican Party, which received 48.1% of the vote. Voter turnout was 41.6%. [2]

Costa Rica country in Central America

Costa Rica, officially the Republic of Costa Rica, is a country in Central America, bordered by Nicaragua to the north, the Caribbean Sea to the northeast, Panama to the southeast, the Pacific Ocean to the southwest, and Ecuador to the south of Cocos Island. It has a population of around 5 million in a land area of 51,060 square kilometers. An estimated 333,980 people live in the capital and largest city, San José with around 2 million people in the surrounding metropolitan area.

General elections were held in El Salvador on 20 March 1994, with a second round of the presidential elections taking place on 24 April. Armando Calderón Sol of the Nationalist Republican Alliance won the presidential elections, whilst his party also won the legislative elections. Voter turnout was 50% in the first round of the presidential elections and 45.5% in the second, whilst it was 53.1% for the legislative election.

1924 Danish Folketing election

Folketing elections were held in Denmark on 11 April 1924. The result was a victory for the Social Democratic Party led by Thorvald Stauning, which won 55 of the 149 seats. Voter turnout was 78.6% in Denmark proper. In the Faroe Islands constituency there was only one candidate, who was returned unopposed.

1988 Icelandic presidential election

Presidential elections were held in Iceland on 25 June 1988. The result was a victory for the incumbent president Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, who received 94.6% of the vote. The election marked the first time a sitting president was challenged in an election.

1996 Puerto Rican general election

General elections were held in Puerto Rico on 5 November 1996. Pedro Rosselló of the New Progressive Party (PNP) was re-elected Governor, whilst the PNP also won a majority of seats in the House of Representatives and the Senate. Voter turnout was between 80% and 82%.

1954 Turkish general election

General elections were held in Turkey on 2 May 1954.The electoral system used was the multiple non-transferable vote. The result was a victory for the Democrat Party, which won 503 of the 541 seats. Voter turnout was 88.6%.

1982 Mexican general election

General elections were held in Mexico on 4 July 1982. The presidential elections were won by Miguel de la Madrid, who received 74.3% of the vote. In the Chamber of Deputies election, the Institutional Revolutionary Party won 299 of the 372 seats, as well as winning 63 of the 64 seats in the Senate election. Voter turnout was 74.8% in the presidential election and 72.6% and 66.4% for the two parts of the Chamber elections.

1956 Puerto Rican general election

General elections were held in Puerto Rico on 6 November 1956. Luis Muñoz Marín of the Popular Democratic Party was re-elected as governor, whilst the PPD also won a majority of the vote in the House of Representatives elections. Voter turnout was 80.4% in the gubernatorial elections and 80.3% in the House elections.

General elections were held in Puerto Rico on 3 November 1964. Roberto Sánchez Vilella of the Popular Democratic Party was elected Governor, whilst the PPD also won a majority of the vote in the House of Representatives elections. Voter turnout was 83.8%.

1992 Puerto Rican general election

General elections were held in Puerto Rico on 3 November 1992. Pedro Rosselló of the New Progressive Party (PNP) was elected Governor, whilst the PNP also won a majority of seats in the House of Representatives and the Senate. Voter turnout was between 82% and 84%.

1938 Bulgarian parliamentary election

Parliamentary elections were held in Bulgaria between 6 and 27 March 1938, the first after the 1934 coup. The elections were held on a non-partisan basis, with the Bulgarian Agrarian National Union and Bulgarian Communist Party banned. Pro-government candidates won a majority of seats. Voter turnout was 69.5%.

Parliamentary elections were held in Greece on 17 November 1902. Supporters of Theodoros Deligiannis emerged as the largest bloc in Parliament, with 110 of the 235 seats. Deligiannis became Prime Minister for the fourth time on 6 December.

1966 Liechtenstein general election

General elections were held in Liechtenstein on 6 February 1966. The Progressive Citizens' Party won eight of the 15 seats in the Landtag, but remained in coalition with the Patriotic Union.

Parliamentary elections were held in Norway in 1873. As political parties were not officially established until 1884, all those elected were independents. Voter turnout was 45.6%, although only 4.6% of the country's population was eligible to vote.

1934 Colombian presidential election

Presidential elections were held in Colombia on 11 February 1934. The result was a victory for Alfonso López Pumarejo of the Liberal Party, who received 99.6% of the vote. He took office on 7 August.
