Jamaica is an island country situated in the Caribbean Sea. Spanning 10,990 square kilometres (4,240 sq mi) in area, it is the third-largest island of the Greater Antilles and the Caribbean. Evergestella is a genus of moths of the family Crambidae. It contains only one species, Evergestella evincalis, which is found in Florida, as well as on the Cayman Islands, Cuba, Puerto Rico and Jamaica.
Andrew Michael Holness, ON, MP is a Jamaican politician who has been the Prime Minister of Jamaica since 3 March 2016, following the 2016 Jamaican general election. Holness previously served as prime minister from October 2011 to 5 January 2012. He succeeded Bruce Golding as prime minister, and decided to go to the polls in the 29 December 2011 general election in an attempt to get his own mandate from the Jamaican electorate. He failed in that bid, however, losing to the People's National Party led by Portia Simpson-Miller, with the PNP gaining 42 seats to the Jamaica Labour Party's 21. Following that defeat, Holness served as Leader of the Opposition from January 2012 to March 2016, when he once again assumed the position of prime minister. In 2020, The Labour Party won a landslide in another general election, and on 7 September Holness was sworn in for another term as prime minister.

Antiblemma rufinans, the live oak antiblemma, is a moth of the family Noctuidae. The species was first described by Achille Guenée in 1852. It is found in dry, sandy woodlands, barrens, and scrub forests of the southern Florida plain. It is also present in South America, Cuba and Jamaica.

Adidja Azim Palmer, better known as Vybz Kartel, is a Jamaican reggae dancehall musician, singer, composer, record producer, entrepreneur and convicted murderer. Among his various nicknames, he is referred to as "Worl' Boss". As summarized by Rolling Stone, he "attained folk-hero status in Jamaica with provocative lyrics, and a mischievous public persona", and "few have captivated [the dancehall] audience – or offended the sensibilities of its detractors –as consistently and thoroughly as Kartel."

Anypsipyla is a monotypic snout moth genus described by Harrison Gray Dyar Jr. in 1914. Its only species, Anypsipyla univitella, was described by the same author in the same year. It is found in Central America, South America and has also been recorded from Cuba, Mexico, Jamaica and Florida in the southern United States.

Macalla phaeobasalis is a species of snout moth in the genus Macalla. It was described by George Hampson in 1916 and is known from Cuba, Jamaica and Florida.
