Crossroads is an unincorporated community in Armstrong Township, Vanderburgh County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. [1]
A post office was established at Crossroads in 1850, but was soon discontinued, in 1851. [2]
Vanderburgh County is a county in the U.S. state of Indiana. As of 2020, the population was 180,136. The county seat is in Evansville. While Vanderburgh County was the eighth-largest county in 2020 population in Indiana, it is also the eighth-smallest county in area and the smallest in southwestern Indiana, covering only 236 square miles (610 km2).
Henry Vanderburgh (1760–1812) was an American military officer and jurist. He was one of the first three judges of the United States territorial court for the Indiana Territory. Substantial documentation exists of Vanderburgh's role as a trader and kidnapper of both free and enslaved Black people.
Evansville Central High School, also known as Central High, is a public high school on the north side of Evansville, Indiana. It is the oldest high school in continuous operation west of the Allegheny Mountains. It was established in 1854 as Evansville High School. The name was changed to Central High School in 1918 when FJ Reitz High School was built.
The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC) is a public school corporation serving Evansville, Indiana and Vanderburgh County; its boundary includes the entire county. Knight Township has the largest township population in Southwestern Indiana and is the home of nearly 40 percent of Vanderburgh County's population. On October 1, 2009, the City of Evansville officially annexed territory within Knight Township bounded between Burkhardt Road, the Lloyd Expressway and Morgan Avenue.
