Crowned Unholy is the seventh studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band The Crown. It is a remake of the band's fifth studio album, Crowned in Terror , with re-recorded vocal tracks by Johan Lindstrand, re-recorded bass tracks by Magnus Olsfelt, a new version of the intro (originally written by guitarist Marko Tervonen) now programmed by drummer Janne Saarenpää, drum sound digitally enhanced by Janne, and synthesizer-enhanced parts, all programmed by Janne. The album also contains a free DVD entitled The Crown Invades Karlsruhe, a professionally recorded show in Karlsruhe, Germany on 11 November 2003, [2] while on tour performing Possessed 13 .

In a March 2007 interview, The Crown frontman Johan Lindstrand was asked if he felt re-recording old tracks for the album was actually the right decision. "I think it was the wrong decision", revealed Lindstrand. "Having said that, it was also a chance for diehard fans to have all the albums with me, the original singer, on all of them. [8]
On 24 November 2003, The Crown released a free DVD titled The Crown Invades Karlsruhe in Germany, which was a tie-in to the Crowned Unholy. [9]
In 2018, The Crown announced the re-issue of Crowned Unholy vinyls. The vinyls will be sold as either dead gold marbled, opaque golden yellow marbled, or clear cover with black marbled vinyl inside in the European Union and clear old gold marbled vinyl in the United States. [10]
Tim Pigeon of Last Rites praised the songs such as "Death Metal Holocaust", "Under the Whip" and "Death is the Hunter" but criticized the band's inclusion of clean vocals for "The Speed of Darkness". [11]

HammerFall is a Swedish power metal band from Gothenburg. The band was formed in 1993 by ex-Ceremonial Oath guitarist Oscar Dronjak.
Thanatos is a Dutch extreme metal band. With a history dating back to 1984, they are the oldest death metal band from the Netherlands. Their second album, Realm of Ecstasy, received positive marks from Dutch music magazine Oor and various international magazines for its solid compositions and challenging arrangements. After enduring constantly changing line-ups and problems with distribution, promotion, and even ownership of the rights to the second album, Thanatos folded in 1992, the final straw being the cancellation of a tour with Cannibal Corpse and Exhorder.
Tarot is a Finnish heavy metal band. They are most famous for being one of the earliest metal bands in Finland, and for the song "Wings of Darkness" from the 1986 album Spell of Iron. Crowned in Terror is the fifth album by Swedish melodic death metal band The Crown. This is one of two albums by The Crown not to have Johan Lindstrand on vocals. Instead Tomas Lindberg handled the vocal duties. Later, the vocals were re-recorded by Lindstrand and the album was re-released as Crowned Unholy.

Beyond All Sense 2005 is Destiny's sixth album, a re-recording of their 1985 album Beyond All Sense, and was released on May 11, 2005. The original album was only released in Sweden in a limited number of 2000 copies of vinyl.
Battle Beast is a Finnish heavy/power metal band established in Helsinki in 2008 by Anton Kabanen, Juuso Soinio and Pyry Vikki. The initial line-up consisted of guitarists Soinio and Kabanen, and drummer Vikki, who were high school friends. Death Is Not Dead is the ninth studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band The Crown which was released by Century Media Records on 13 January 2015. In this album, Johan Lindstrand returned for the first time since his departure after Possessed 13 came out in 2003. The album is the first not to feature lead guitarist Marcus Sunesson or drummer Janne Saarenpää, with Robin Sorqvist replacing the former. Drums on this album were performed by guitarist Marko Tervonen, except track 4 which features Henrik Axelsson. Axelsson would go on to join the band officially and appears on the following two albums.
