Cyperus cephalotes is a species of sedge that is native to tropical areas in Asia and Australia. [1]
The species was first formally described by the botanist Martin Vahl in 1805. [1]
The Cyperaceae are a family of graminoid (grass-like), monocotyledonous flowering plants known as sedges. The family is large, with some 5,500 known species described in about 90 genera, the largest being the "true sedges" genus Carex with over 2,000 species.
