DHA Valley is a joint venture between DHA Islamabad, Bahria Town, and Habib Rafiq. The plan includes a secure community with parks, utilities, commercial shopping, schools, mosques, and a hospital. [3] The project's master plan was designed by the California-based company OJMR Architects. [4] Habib Rafiq is responsible for the transportation infrastructure, while construction of DHA Homes [5] was awarded to the Turkish company AREA. [6] The master plan includes the following projects DHA Valley, DHA Valley (Overseas Block), [7] DHA Homes [5] and DHA Commercial Avenue [8] The project launched in November 2008 and should have been completed by the end of 2014. Plots will be given to alloties in December 2022 as per new plan given by administration after paying up fee of Development charges.

Controversies

Kamran Kayani

Kamran Kayani, brother of former Chief of Army Staff Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, is allegedly involved in a number of land scams including DHA Valley. The corruption watchdog National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigated Kamran Kayani and later issued his arrest warrants. [9]

Corruption allegations

On 2 February 2011, a complaint was lodged with National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against the management of DHA Valley. The complainant Lt. Col. Tariq Kamal accused the management of DHA Valley of embezzlement in sale, development, and purchase of land in the subdivision. On the directions of Supreme Court of Pakistan, NAB submitted a list of 179 cases before the court. The list also included the DHA Valley case. Later, the same list was uploaded on NAB's website. The status of the DHA Valley case in NAB is "inquiry under progress", as of January 27, 2017. [10]

Dadhocha Dam

On 3 August 2015, a report was submitted to the Supreme Court on behalf of the Punjab Irrigation Department. The submitted report assured the Supreme Court that Dadhocha Dam would be built at the original site. The original site of Dadhocha dam had been included in the master plan of DHA Valley. [11] On 27 January 2016, the district administration of Rawalpindi told the Punjab Irrigation Department to start constructing the stalled Dadhocha Dam to end its tussle with the Defence, Islamabad-Rawalpindi. [12]

The Defence Housing Authority, Islamabad-Rawalpindi (DHAI-R) is an affluent residential neighbourhood or a gated community located within Islamabad–Rawalpindi metropolitan area of Pakistan. The neighbourhood is divided into five parts and straddles the Punjab provincial border. This neighbourhood was primarily established for military personnel in 1992 by the Armed Forces of Pakistan Welfare Department, however, currently both civilian and military families reside there. Today, DHA, Islamabad serves as one of the twin cities' most posh residential neighbourhoods.

Dadhocha Dam is a proposed dam which is to be built near Dadhocha village in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. The dam is intended to address the water scarcity issues in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Rawalpindi Ring Road also known as Rawalpindi–Islamabad Ring Road, is a 38.3 kilometer orbital highway in Pakistan between the cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Work on the highway started in March 2022, it is currently under construction, upon completion the highway will have six lanes. The ring road will start from Channi Sher Alam bridge near Rawat and end near Thalian interchange close to the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway. The project was originally proposed in 1991, under the government of Nawaz Sharif, however due to political turmoil the project never materialized. During Shahbaz Sharif's visit to China in 2010 as Chief Minister of Punjab, the project was discussed between Pakistani and Chinese authorities to secure funding. In 2017, the project was again briefed to the Asian Development Bank to secure funding for the project.
