Lieutenant General is a three-star army officer rank in the Pakistan Army. It is equivalent to a vice admiral in the Pakistan Navy and an air marshal in the Pakistan Air Force. A lieutenant general is also called a three-star general. Like other armies, this rank is higher than a major general and lower than a full general. There are currently 27 Lieutenant Generals in the Pakistan Army, with each usually presiding over a corps.

Sitara-e-Jurat is the third highest military award of Pakistan. It was established in 1957 after Pakistan became a republic; however, it was instituted retrospectively back to 1947. It is awarded for gallantry or distinguished service in combat; and can be bestowed upon officers, junior commissioned officers, petty officers, warrant officers, soldiers, sailors, airmen, and equivalents in the Pakistan Army, Navy, Air Force, and various paramilitary forces under federal control, such as the Frontier Corps, the Frontier Constabulary, and the Pakistan Rangers. Zaheer-ul-Islam HI (M), is a retired lieutenant-general of the Pakistan Army who served as the 25th Director General of the ISI. He was appointed to the position on 9 March 2012 and began working a day after his predecessor Ahmed Shuja Pasha left on 18 March 2012. At the time of his appointment, he was serving as the Corps Commander V Corps. In 2012 Forbes named him as the world's 52nd most powerful person.

Women in the Pakistan Armed Forces are the female officers who serve in the Pakistan Armed Forces. In 2006, the first women fighter pilot batch joined the combat aerial mission command of PAF. The Pakistan Navy prohibits women from serving in the combat branch. Rather, they are appointed and serve in operations involving military logistics, staff and senior administrative offices, particularly in the regional and central headquarters. There was a rise in the number of women applying for the combat branch of PAF in 2013.

Asim Saleem BajwaHI(M) TBt is a retired Pakistani three-star general who served as the chairman of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority from November 2019 to August 2021 and the special assistant to then Prime Minister Imran Khan on the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting from 28 April 2020 to 12 October 2020. On 11 December 2016, Bajwa was appointed as Inspector General Arms at GHQ, where he served until his appointment to the position of Commander Southern Command and XII Corps in September 2017. Ishfaq Nadeem Ahmad HI(M), was a retired three star rank Pakistan Army general who served as Corps Commander II Corps of the Pakistan Army. He previously served as Chief of General Staff and Director-General of Military Operations. Lieutenant General Ahmad was second on the seniority list in 2016 of being Chief of Army Staff, but then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appointed Lt Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, who was the inspector general training and evaluation at that time, as the army chief.

Asif GhafoorHI(M) is a retired three-star ranking general in the Pakistani Army, who most recently served as the president of the National Defence University uptill 2024. Previously, Ghafoor served as the Corps Commander Quetta and the 20th director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Babar IftikharHI(M) is a three-star general in the Pakistan Army who is currently serving as the President of the National Defence University since January 2025. He was the former 21st director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) from 16 January 2020 to 6 December 2022. He was commissioned in the Pakistan Army in 1990. He is also former General Officer Commanding 1st Armoured Division in Multan. He is also the former commander of V Corps of the Pakistan Army which has its headquarters in Karachi.

Sahir Shamshad MirzaNI(M)HI(M) is a Pakistani four star-general, currently serving as the 18th chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee appointed to the post on 27 November 2022. Prior to this appointment, he commanded the Rawalpindi Northern Command from 2021 to 2022.

Bilal Omer KhanHI(M) SBt known affectionately as Billy was a two-star rank general in the Pakistan Army who died in the December 2009 Rawalpindi attack along with 39 others. He was posthumously awarded the Sitara-e-Basalat on Pakistan Day 2010. His cousin is the former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (South) (Urdu: سرحد واہنی خیبر پختونخواہ (جنوبی), reporting name: FCKP(S)), is a federal paramilitary force in Pakistan, operating in the southern part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, to overseeing the country's borders with Afghanistan and assisting with maintaining law and order. It is one of four Frontier Corps with the others being: FC Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (North) stationed in the north of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, and FC Balochistan (North) and FC Balochistan (South) stationed in Balochistan province.
