Iloilo, officially the Province of Iloilo, is a province in the Philippines located in the Western Visayas region. Its capital and largest city is Iloilo City, the regional center of Western Visayas. Iloilo occupies the southeast portion of the Visayan island of Panay and is bordered by the province of Antique to the west, Capiz to the north, the Jintotolo Channel to the northeast, the Guimaras Strait to the east, and the Iloilo Strait and Panay Gulf to the southwest.

Bacolod City Domestic Airport(IATA: BCD, ICAO: RPVB), also known as Bacolod Airport during its operation, was an airport that served the general area of Bacolod, the capital city of Negros Occidental in the Philippines. It was one of the busiest airports in the Western Visayas region and was one of four trunkline airports, or major commercial domestic airports, in the region, the others being Mandurriao Airport in Iloilo City, Roxas Airport in Roxas and Puerto Princesa Airport in Puerto Princesa. This airport was replaced by the new Bacolod–Silay Airport, located in nearby Silay.

Founded in 1932 by the López family of Iloilo as Iloilo-Negros Air Express Company, Inc., it was the first commercial airline in the Philippines. It was later renamed Far Eastern Air Transport Inc. (FEATI) and folded into the operations of Philippine Airlines (PAL) which was re-nationalized by the Philippine government and became the national flag carrier. As a township, it is directly governed by the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, which also manages Mambukal Mountain Resort in the 6-hectare townsite near Brgy. Minoyan. The resort is owned and managed by the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental under its Economic Enterprise Development Department.

The Negros Occidental Eco-Tourism Highway, officially known as the Bacolod–San Carlos Road and Bacolod–Murcia–Don Salvador Benedicto–San Carlos Road, is an 81.12-kilometer (50.41 mi) scenic highway that connects the city of Bacolod to the city of San Carlos in Negros Occidental, Philippines. It cuts through the north-central Negros Island and traverses the Northern Negros Natural Park, north of Mount Kanlaon. Its western segment in Bacolod also known as Alijis Road has a two-way bicycle lane.
The COVID-19 pandemic in Western Visayas is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. The virus reached Western Visayas on March 20, 2020, when the first case of the disease was confirmed in Bacolod. All provinces have at least one confirmed COVID-19 case.
