Damien Bowen (born 14 May 1984) is an Australian seated shot putter and seated javelin thrower. He represented Australia in athletics at the 2012 Summer Paralympics but did not medal.
Bowen was born on 14 May 1984 in Perth, Western Australia. [1] [2] [3] As of 2012 [update] , he lives in Queanbeyan, New South Wales [1] [2] and is from the Australian Capital Territory. [4] [5] Bowen has cerebral palsy. [2]
Bowen is a seated shot putter and seated javelin thrower. [1] [6] He competes in the F34 classification. [2] [3] He is coached by Alison O'Riordan, [1] and is a member of the Queanbeyan Athletics Club. [1] He became involved in athletics while living in Western Australia. [1] In 2008, Bowen had a scholarship with the Australian Institute of Sport. [7] In 2009, he had an "Aspire to be a Champion" grant. [8] In 2011, he had a scholarship with the ACT Academy of Sport. Bowen started in athletics in 2006. [2] He competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics, finishing seventh in the F33/34/52 men's javelin event. [2] [6] [7] [10] He finished seventh in the javelin event. [11] In 2009, he finished first in the mixed seated discus at the AWD Australia Athletics Championships. [12] At the 2010 Commonwealth Games, he competed in the men's F32/34/52 shot put for elite athletes with a disability event, where he finished fourth. [13] [14] [15] [16] At the 2011 Australian Athletics Championships, he finished second in the shot put even with a throw of 9.35 metres. He finished first in the javeling event with a throw of 29.19 metres. [3] At the 2012 Australian Athletics Championships, he finished first in the shot put event with a distance of 10.32 metres and first in the javelin event with a throw of 33.50 metres. Tunisia made its Paralympic Games debut at the 1988 Summer Paralympics in Seoul. It was represented by a single athlete, Monaam Elabed, who won two bronze medals in athletics. The country has competed in every subsequent edition of the Summer Paralympics, although it has never taken part in the Winter Paralympics. Tunisian competitors have only ever taken part in athletics events, with the sole exception of Dalila Tabai who competed in powerlifting in 2000.

The 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships was held in Christchurch, New Zealand from January 21 to 30, 2011. Athletes with a disability competed, and the Championships was a qualifying event for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Katherine Proudfoot is a cerebral palsy athlete from Australia competing mainly in throwing events. She competed in the F36 classification at the 2008, 2012 and the 2016 Summer Paralympics, winning medals at each Game. Following a medical review request in early 2017, she now competes in seated throws in the F32 classification. At the 2017 Australian Athletics Championships she threw 7.04m in the Women's Shot Put Secured event, bettering the Women's F32 shot put world record mark of 6.55m.
Russell Luke Short, OAM is an Australian legally blind athlete, who has competed at eight Paralympics from 1988 to 2016 and won six gold, two silver and four bronze medals at the Games. He competes in discus, javelin, and shot put.
Damien Alexander Burroughs, is an Australian Paralympic athlete. He won a gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Games and participated in the 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Paralympics.

The club throw is an athletic throwing event where the objective is to throw a wooden club. The event is one of the four throwing events, along with discus, javelin and shot put of the Summer Paralympics. It is the Paralympic equivalent of the hammer throw. The club throw was introduced for both men and women at the first 1960 Summer Paralympic Games. It was dropped from the women's programme from the 1992 Paralympics in Barcelona but was reinstated for London 2012.
Birgit Kober is a German Paralympic athlete. She initially competed in F34 seated throwing events, and from 2011 to 2013 she became the reigning champion at European, World and Paralympic level in both shot put and javelin in her class. At the 2012 Summer Paralympic Games in London, she broke the world record in both her events. Following changes to the IPC rules for seated throws in 2014, she chose to compete in a standing position as an F36 athlete. She won the F36 shot put at the 2016 Summer Paralympic Games with a Paralympic record throw. As of April 2017 she is World Record holder in the Women's F36 shot put, a distance of 11.52 m set in July 2016.
Jayden Sawyer is an Australian para athlete who competes mainly in the F38 category in throwing events. He won has won gold and bronze medals at the World Para Athletics Championships. He competed at the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Summer Paralympics.
Cameron Crombie is an Australian Para-Athlete who specialises in the shot put and javelin throw events. At his first major international competition, he won the gold medal in the Men's Shot Put F38 classification at the 2017 World Para Athletics Championships in London. England.
