David Hyland (born May 30, 1987) is a former arena football defensive back.
Hyland played college football at Morehead State University ('05-'08) and appeared in 44 games in which he had 21 interceptions and 319 return yards to go along with three touchdowns. He also set a Division I-AA record with 61 career pass knockdowns. Hyland holds school records for longest interception return, most interceptions in a season and most interceptions in a career. In addition, he tied the school record for most interceptions in a game with three. In 2007, Hyland also earned All-America honors from The Sports Network and Football Gazette. [1]
Hyland joined the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz of the Arena Football League (AFL) in 2010, where he tallied eight interceptions in his rookie campaign. He led Oklahoma City in tackles and interceptions in his rookie year. [2] His team also voted him as their Defensive Most Valuable Player. [3] He was signed by the BC Lions as a free agent on September 7, 2010. [4] [5] After his release from BC, Hyland was signed to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He joined the AFL's Utah Blaze in 2012. Hyland would play for the Blaze for two seasons (2012 and 2013). In the former season, the Blaze reached the AFL's Conference Championship Game, which they narrowly lost to the Arizona Rattlers. Hyland's tenure with the Blaze would end abruptly, as the team folded at the conclusion of the 2013 season.
Hyland then joined the San Jose SaberCats. In 2014, despite missing ten of the team's eighteen regular-season games, he tallied 3 interceptions and 32 tackles. In the first round of the playoffs, the SaberCats faced off against the Spokane Shock. During the game, Hyland intercepted eventual teammate Erik Meyer; he returned the intercepted ball thirty yards in a 55-28 SaberCats victory. The SaberCats, however, would lose to the defending champion Arizona Rattlers one week later.
In the 2015 regular season, Hyland recorded 4 interceptions and 76 tackles for the SaberCats. In the 2015 playoffs, the SaberCats advanced to ArenaBowl XXVIII; there, Hyland forced two crucial turnovers against the opposing Jacksonville Sharks. Near the end of the third quarter, with the SaberCats holding a razor-thin 34–33 edge, Hyland intercepted Sharks quarterback (and former Blaze teammate) Tommy Grady deep in Jacksonville territory and returned it back for a touchdown to take a 41–33 lead. Minutes later, Hyland caught a kick that had deflected off the net; in running the ball in for a touchdown, he extended the SaberCats' lead to 55–33. The SaberCats would go on to win the game by a score of 68–47. For his efforts, Hyland was named the Defensive Player of the Game, and Iron Man of the Game.
Hyland was also awarded the 2015 AL Lucas AFL Pulse Hero Award for his off-field activities. The award "is presented annually to the player who makes the most significant contribution to both his community and the game of Arena Football." [6]
On November 5, 2015, Hyland was assigned to the SaberCats for 2016.
On March 10, 2016, Hyland was assigned to the Jacksonville Sharks.
On July 18, 2018, Hyland was assigned to the Baltimore Brigade.
Aaron Garcia is a former professional American football quarterback who played 19 seasons in the Arena Football League (AFL), from 1995 to 2014. He played college football at Washington State University before transferring to California State University, Sacramento. After retiring from the AFL, Garcia was named the head coach of the Las Vegas Outlaws in September 2014, and was formally introduced as the head coach of the Outlaws on October 11, 2014. Garcia is married to Bryn Garcia and has five children, Gigi, Bella, Anthony, Christian, and Jaxon.
Siaha Burley is an American former arena football wide receiver and former head coach. He played college football at UCF and was also the head coach of the Jacksonville Sharks from 2017 to 2019 before returning to the team for 2022.
Erik Meyer is a former professional American football quarterback. He was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2006. He played college football at Eastern Washington. He was also a member of the Cologne Centurions, Seattle Seahawks. Oakland Raiders, Utah Blaze, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Spokane Shock, San Jose SaberCats and Washington Valor.
Robert James McMillen, Jr. is a former arena football fullback/linebacker and head coach. He was most recently the head coach of the Los Angeles Kiss of the Arena Football League (AFL). He played his college football at Illinois-Benedictine, and was an AFL fullback/linebacker from 1995 to 2007. He began coaching the sport in 2010, first serving as an assistant for the Chicago Slaughter in 2010, as an assistant with the Rush in 2011, before being named head coach of the Rush in 2011. In 2013, McMillen was elected into the Arena Football Hall of Fame.
Kenny McEntyre, nicknamed "the Glove", is a former arena football defensive back. He played college football at Kansas State.
Omarr Ali Hasan Smith is a former American football defensive back who was most recently the head coach of the Baltimore Brigade of the Arena Football League (AFL). He played professionally for the San Jose SaberCats of the AFL, and played college football at San Jose State.
Marquis Floyd is a former American football cornerback in the National Football League (NFL) for the Seattle Seahawks, Cleveland Browns, and Dallas Cowboys. He also was a member of the Tennessee Valley Vipers, Rio Grande Valley Dorados, San Jose SaberCats and Arizona Rattlers in the Arena Football League (AFL). He was signed by the Tennessee Valley Vipers as a street free agent in 2004. He played college football at West Georgia.
Reggie Gray is a former American football wide receiver and kickoff returner.
Larry Brackins is a former American football wide receiver. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fifth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played college football at Pearl River Community College. Brackins has also been a member of the New York Jets, New York Sentinels, Philadelphia Soul, Dallas Vigilantes, Orlando Predators and Cleveland Gladiators.
Clevan Nathaniel Thomas is a former American football cornerback. Along with Kenny McEntyre, he is regarded as one of the top defensive backs in Arena Football history. He spent ten of his seasons in the AFL with the SaberCats; over this span, he won four ArenaBowl championships and three Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY) awards. In 2012, Thomas was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame.
Caesar Rayford is a former American football defensive end in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys. He also was a member of the BC Lions, Spokane Shock, Utah Blaze, Jacksonville Sharks, Calgary Stampeders, Montreal Alouettes, Los Angeles Kiss and Tampa Bay Storm. He played college football at the University of Washington. He is currently the defensive line and linebackers coach for the Atlantic City Blackjacks.
Vicqual Renee "Vic" Hall is a former American football defensive back. He was signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2010. He played college football at Virginia, where he played multiple positions for the Cavaliers. He was the starting quarterback and also served as a kick returner and holder. In 2007 and 2008, he played as a cornerback.
Nick Davila is a former arena football quarterback. A three-time AFL champion, and three-time MVP, he also played for the Arizona Rattlers from 2010 to 2016. Davila is of Mexican American descent. He is nicknamed the "Latin Laser". In 2017, he was the quarterbacks and wide receivers coach for the Rattlers of the Indoor Football League (IFL), who went on to win the 2017 United Bowl.

Jeremy Kelley is a former gridiron football wide receiver. He attended the University of Maine. Kelley was a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Utah Blaze, Jacksonville Sharks, Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh Power, San Jose SaberCats, Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, Hudson Valley Fort and Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The 2015 San Jose SaberCats season was the team's 19th in San Jose, California. The team was coached by Darren Arbet and played their home games at the SAP Center at San Jose. They finished first in the Pacific Division with a 17–1 regular season record and went on to defeat the Jacksonville Sharks 68–47 in ArenaBowl XXVIII.
Kimani Jones is a former American football offensive lineman. Prior to his Arena Football career, he played football at Arkansas State University; as a senior, Jones earned First Team All-Sun Belt Conference honors.
Damien Borel is a former American football defensive lineman. He attended Woodland High School and Butte College. In 2012, while at Butte, he tallied 69 tackles and 19 sacks. Borel's 19 sacks led all California Community College Athletic Association players in 2012.
Cedric Walker is a former American football defensive back and coach who is currently the head coach and defensive coordinator of the Billings Outlaws of the Arena Football League (AFL). Walker played football at Stephen F. Austin University; once his stint there concluded, he signed with the AFL's Charlotte Rage. Walker played for a succession of AFL teams over his ten-season career; these included the Orlando Predators, Arizona Rattlers, Indiana Firebirds, Chicago Rush, Austin Wranglers, and Las Vegas Gladiators. At the end of his AFL Career, Walker had amassed some 522 solo tackles ; this was the league's seventh-highest total. Walker also won one ArenaBowl as a player; this came with the Arizona Rattlers in 1997.
Marvin Ross is an American football defensive back for the Jacksonville Sharks of the National Arena League (NAL). Ross started out with the Lions from 2013 to 2015 as part of the Professional Indoor Football League. As an Arena Football League player, Ross was the 2016 AFL Rookie of the Year with the Cleveland Gladiators before playing with the Atlantic City Blackjacks in 2019. In between these years, Ross played in the National Arena League with the Columbus Lions and the Canadian Football League with the Calgary Stampeders from 2017 to 2018. With the Lions, Ross was awarded the 2021 NAL Defensive Player of the Year and had the season record for most interceptions.
