William Ernest Walsh was an American professional and college football coach. He served as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers and the Stanford Cardinal, during which time he popularized the West Coast offense. After retiring from the 49ers, Walsh worked as a sports broadcaster for several years and then returned as head coach at Stanford for three seasons.
Michael George Holmgren is an American former football coach and executive in the National Football League (NFL). He began his NFL career as a quarterbacks' coach and later as an offensive coordinator with the San Francisco 49ers, where they won Super Bowls XXIII and XXIV. He served as the head coach of the Green Bay Packers from 1992 to 1998, where he won Super Bowl XXXI, and of the Seattle Seahawks from 1999 to 2008. His last role in the NFL was as team president of the Cleveland Browns from 2010 to 2012. Prior to his career in the NFL, Holmgren coached football at the high school and collegiate levels.
Christopher Ashon Claiborne is an American football coach and former player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for eight seasons. Claiborne played college football for the University of Southern California, and was recognized as a unanimous All-American. He was a first-round pick in the 1999 NFL draft, and played professionally for the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, St. Louis Rams, and New York Giants of the NFL.
Mark Richard Grieb is a former Arena football quarterback who spent the majority of his career with the San Jose SaberCats of the Arena Football League (AFL). Grieb currently serves as the head coach of the Sacred Heart Prep Gators football team in Atherton, California. He was a 13-year veteran of the AFL, having played quarterback for the Anaheim Piranhas (1997) and San Jose SaberCats. Grieb also played in NFL Europe for the Scottish Claymores (1998) and in the XFL with the Las Vegas Outlaws (2001). Grieb is the second quarterback in AFL history to throw for over 47,000 yards, over 900 touchdowns, over 3,800 completions, and over 10,000 pass attempts. He officially retired on November 8, 2012. He played college football at University of California, Davis. Grieb passed for 48,080 yards between the Arena League, XFL and NFL Europe.
Dudley Sargent DeGroot was an American athlete and coach, primarily of American football. He served as the head coach for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League (NFL) from 1944 and 1945, tallying a mark of 14–5–1; his winning percentage of .737 is the best in franchise history for coaches with at least one full season. DeGroot was also the head football coach at Santa Barbara State College—now the University of California, Santa Barbara—from 1926 to 1927, San Jose State University (1932–1939), the University of Rochester (1940–1943), West Virginia University (1948–1949), and the University of New Mexico (1950–1952), compiling a career college football head coaching record of 117–67–9. In addition, he served as the head coach of the Los Angeles Dons of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) from 1946 to 1947.
Kenneth Margerum is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for seven seasons during the 1980s. Margerum played college football for Stanford University, and earned consensus All-American honors twice. He played professionally for the Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers of the NFL.
Mike DeBord is an American football coach who was most recently the offensive coordinator at the University of Kansas. He was previously the offensive coordinator of the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football (AAF), and was the associate head coach and offensive coordinator at Indiana University prior to joining the AAF. DeBord was the head football coach at Central Michigan University from 2000 to 2003, compiling a record of 12–34. He worked as an assistant coach at the University of Michigan for a total of 11 seasons, from 1993 to 1999 and again from 2004 to 2007. He was the offensive coordinator for the Michigan Wolverines for five seasons including Michigan's 1997 campaign, in which the team won part of a national championship. DeBord has also worked as an assistant coach in the National Football League (NFL), with the Seattle Seahawks (2008–2009) and the Chicago Bears (2010–2012).
John Paye is an American former professional football player who was a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL), and also a former high school basketball coach. He is the older brother of Kate Paye, who is currently the head coach of the Stanford Cardinal women's basketball team.
Gustavo David Miguel Diaz-Infante is an American former professional football guard and center and current head coach of the Bellarmine College Preparatory Bells. He formerly served as an assistant offensive line coach for the Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League (NFL). In the NFL he played for the San Diego Chargers, Denver Broncos, and the Philadelphia Eagles. Diaz-Infante also played in the World League of American Football (WLAF) for the Frankfurt Galaxy, in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the Sacramento Gold Miners and in the XFL with the Las Vegas Outlaws. Diaz-Infante played college football at San Jose State University. Inducted into SJSU Sports Hall of Fame, and Bellarmine College Prep Hall of Fame. Diaz-Infante was a Voice of Denver Broncos Color Analyst for the Denver Bronco's Radio Network. He was recently named the head coach of the Bellarmine Bells, the 7th football coach in the school's history.
The San Jose State Spartans football team represents San José State University in NCAA Division I FBS college football as a member of the Mountain West Conference. Since its first regular season in 1898, the team has produced over 90 All-America team members, won 18 conference championships, and sent 139 players to the NFL, including Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees Bill Walsh and Dick Vermeil. The Spartans head coach is Ken Niumatalolo.

Lyle Moevao is a former professional and college football quarterback for the Oregon State Beavers football team. He played professionally in France for the La Courneuve Flash and Japan. Moevao was the starting quarterback for Oregon State for the 2008 season, throwing for 2,534 yards and 19 touchdowns with a quarterback rating of 128.41. He also helped the Beavers to a 3–0 victory in the 2008 Sun Bowl against the Pittsburgh Panthers.
George Michael MacIntyre is an American football coach. He was the head coach at FIU from 2022–2024. MacIntyre previously served as the head football coach at San Jose State from 2010 to 2012 and at Colorado from 2013 to 2018.
Steve LeRoi Papin is a former American football offensive specialist who played seven seasons in the Arena Football League (AFL) with the San Jose SaberCats and New York Dragons. He first enrolled at West Valley College before transferring to Portland State University. He attended Piedmont Hills High School in San Jose, California. Papin was also a member of the Scottish Claymores and San Diego Riptide.
Brent Munger Brennan is an American college football coach who is currently the head football coach at the University of Arizona. Brennan was the head football coach at San Jose State University from 2017 to 2023.
The 1930 Humboldt State Lumberjacks football team represented Humboldt State Normal College—now known as California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt—as an independent during the 1930 college football season. Led by fourth-year head coach Fred Telonicher, the Lumberjacks compiled a record of 0–6. Humboldt State was shut out in five of their six games and gave up an average of 45 points per game, being outscored 268 to 7 for the season. The team played home games at Albee Stadium in Eureka, California.

Prior to his stint with the Broncos, he was a college football coach who had worked at programs such as Boise State, Colorado, and Washington.
Joe Bleymaier is an American football coach who is the pass game coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). He was previously a quality control coach, pass game analyst, assistant quarterbacks coach, and wide receivers coach for the Chiefs. He was previously a quality control coach at the University of Colorado Boulder.
