The Democratic Labour Movement (DLM) was a political party in Guyana.
The party was established in 1982, [1] In the 1985 general elections it received only 0.7% of the vote and failed to win a seat. [2] Following the elections, it joined the Patriotic Coalition for Democracy, an alliance of five parties calling for free and fair elections. [3] This was achieved in 1992, but the DLM saw its share of the vote fall to 0.5% and it remained without parliamentary representation. The party did not contest any further elections. [4]
Elections in Guyana take place within the framework of a multi-party representative democracy and a presidential system. The National Assembly is directly elected, with the nominee of the party or alliance that receives the most votes becoming President.

General elections were held in Guyana on 5 October 1992. They were the first free and fair elections since 1964. The newly created People's Progressive Party/Civic alliance ended the People's National Congress' 28-year rule, winning 28 of the 53 seats and 53.5% of the vote following a landslide victory. Voter turnout was 80.4%.
