Dinarolacerta montenegrina, or Prokletije rock lizard, is a species of lizard in the family Lacertidae. It is found in Montenegro and Albania. [2] It was first described in 2007. [3] It differs genetically and morphologically from the most closely related species, Dinarolacerta mosorensis : in the exterior morphology, it is smaller; it has only one postnasal scale on one or both sides of its head; it has fewer temporal and postocular scales. [3] The skeleton differs from D. mosorensis by its reduced supraocular osteoderms and the absence of an anteromedial process on the postocular bone. [3]

Lacertidae Family of lizards

The Lacertidae are the family of the wall lizards, true lizards, or sometimes simply lacertas, which are native to Afro-Eurasia. It is a diverse family with at least 300 species in 39 genera. They represent the dominant group of reptiles found in Europe. The group includes the genus Lacerta (genus), which contains some of the most commonly seen lizard species in Europe.

Accursed Mountains Mountain range on the western Balkan peninsula

The Accursed Mountains also known as the Albanian Alps are a mountain group in the western part of the Balkans. It is the southernmost subrange of the 1,000-kilometre-long (621 mi) Dinaric Alps range (Dinarides), extending from northern Albania to south Kosovo and northeastern Montenegro. Maja Jezercë standing at 2,694 m (8,839 ft) is the highest point of the Accursed Mountains and of all Dinaric Alps, and the fifth highest peak in Albania. The highest peak in Montenegro, Zla Kolata at 2,534 m (8,314 ft) and the second-highest in Kosovo, Gjeravica at 2,656 m (8,714 ft) are also part of the range.

Beer Sheva fringe-fingered lizard Species of lizard

The Be'er Sheva fringe-fingered lizard is a species of lizard in the family Lacertidae. It is a member of the subfamily Lacertinae, and the genus Acanthodactylus. Considered a separate species based on morphological distinction and isolated location, it shares a large portion of its genetics with Acanthodactylus pardalis in this genus. Many of the individual species in this genus are similar, but varying coloration explains why each species has been separated. Like all Acanthodactylus, A. beershebensis lays eggs, varying from three to seven eggs at a time. Adults vary in size from 17 to 20 cm, but can get much larger. The species is endemic to the loess scrublands of the Negev desert in Israel and the Palestinian Territories, a biodiversity hotspot.
