Sidney Onoriode Esiri (born 1 May 1980), professionally known as Dr Sid, stylized as Dr SID, is a Nigerian singer.
Dr Sid is from Delta State. He was born and raised in Lagos. His mother is a fashion designer and his father, Justus Esiri, was an actor. [1] His father was a Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) and is known for his role as the village headmaster, a Nigerian sitcom popular in the 1980s. The second child of four children, from an early age Dr Sid had his heart set on becoming an entertainer. However, his life took a different course graduating from the Nigerian Air force secondary school ikeja, Sid went on to the University of Ibadan to study dentistry and dental surgery. During his school years, he took part in school plays, dance competitions, and concerts winning numerous awards along the way.
Dr Sid signed on to a fresh new record label Trybe Records (who released the Nigerian hip hop group Trybesmen) as a choreographer. He would spend the next three years touring as a backup dancer for the Trybesmen. [2] [3] [4]
Dr Sid got his chance in front of the mic, when he was made a member of Da Trybe, and given a spot on the song that caused a revolution in Nigerian Hip-hop, "Oya" in 2002 alongside Sasha, 2-Shotz, Timi, DEL, and the Trybesmen (Eldee, Kb and Freestyle). Over the next year Sid recorded his debut single "Don't Stop" and had the number 1 video on the MBI top ten for 8 weeks, His music career had to be put on hold as he had to take a year out to finish up his university degree. Dr Sid became a qualified dentist. He moved to the UK working with the likes of JJC & the 419 squad, Felix Duke, KAS, R70, D'prince, D'Banj. Returning to Nigeria he spent the Next year working at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, [7] [8] and then went on to serve his country at Yola in Adamawa state. He also worked at various dental clinics combining dentistry and music.
He started recording a studio album titled Prognosis which featured the single "Raise da roof". He was nominated in the Best New Act category at the 2005 Amen Awards. He abandoned the album in 2006.
Dr Sid quit practicing as a dentist after three years and decided to concentrate fully on his music career signing on to Don Jazzy's Mo' Hits Records and records the Mo' Hits Allstars collective album Curriculum Vitae (CV) which was released in December 2007. He featured on 7 of the 15 tracks released on the album, which include "Booty Call" and "Close to you". [9]
Dr Sid spent most of 2008 touring with the Mo Hits Allstars, and performing at some of the major concerts, including the Thisday Music Festival and Star Mega Jam. [10]
Dr SID started recording his first studio album as a solo artist under Mo' Hits Records with producer Don Jazzy. The first single of the album Turning Point was titled "Something About You" [11] and was released in September 2009 and is currently moving up the African charts [12] alongside two other Winchi Winchi ft Wande Coal and Pop Something ft D'banj. He also performed at the MTV Africa Music Awards [13] in Kenya as a member of the Mo' Hits Allstars alongside D'banj, Wande Coal and Kenyan artist STL.
Mo' Hits Records release Dr Sid's debut album Turning Point on 11 April [14] [15] Dr Sid New Single off Turning Point, "Over the Moon", hits number 1 on Nigerian top 10.
Following a fall out of the partners at Mo' Hits Records, D'banj and Don Jazzy, Dr Sid has since signed on to Don Jazzy's Mavin Records. He also had three songs from his upcoming album featured on a Mavin Records compilation album titled: Solar Plexus.
Dr Sid released his sophomore album titled Siduction on December 20, 2013. [16] [17] The album featured guest appearances from Tiwa Savage, Ice Prince, Emma Nyra, Alexandra Burke, Phyno and Wizkid. The album had song production from Baby Fresh, Don Jazzy and BlayzeBeats. [18] [19]
Dr. Sid starred in Moses Inwang's 'The Last 3 Digits'. He starred an NYSC corp member and a friend to Nonso Diobi in the film. It won the People's Film Festival's Best International Film award in Paris, France. [20] [21] [22] Dr Sid performed his hit single Surulere Live on the MTV Africa Music award stage in Durban.

Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, known professionally as D'banj, is a Nigerian singer, rapper and television personality. He signed with American rapper Kanye West's record label GOOD Music to release his 2012 single "Oliver Twist", an uptempo dance fusion of EDM and Afrobeats for which he became best known. With record producer Don Jazzy, he co-founded the record label Mo' Hits Records. His stage name is a combination of his first name, Dapo, and his surname, Oyebanjo.
Michael Collins Ajereh, known professionally as Don Jazzy, is a Nigerian record producer and singer. He founded the record label Mavin Records in 2012, through which he has signed artists including D'Prince, Rema, and Ayra Starr. Prior, he co-founded Mo' Hits Records with D'banj in 2004, and was an in-house producer for American rapper Kanye West's GOOD Music from 2011 to 2013.
Ayo Shonaiya is a filmmaker and lawyer, he was also a music talent agent who has managed many of Nigeria's artists. The list include Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, pop star D'banj, music producer Don Jazzy and rapper Eldee the Don. The label's inception came to fruition following the closure of Mo' Hits Records, a record label Don Jazzy and D'banj. The label is home to recording artists such as Rema, Ayra Starr, Crayon, Johnny Drille, Ladipoe, Magixx, Boy Spyce, Bayanni, and Lifesize Teddy. It also houses producers such as Don Jazzy, Altims, London, Baby Fresh, and Andre Vibez. In 2014, DJ Big N became the label's official disc jockey. Solar Plexus is a compilation album released by Mavin Records on May 8, 2012. Produced entirely by Don Jazzy, the album comprises thirteen tracks and was made available for free digital download. It contains solo tracks recorded by D'Prince, Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal and Dr SID. The album's release coincided with the record label's launch date. Solar Plexus was supported the singles "Take Banana" and "Omo Ga". The album received generally negative reviews from music critics, who called it a rushed project and considered it be Don Jazzy's weakest produced album of his career.
Curriculum Vitae is a compilation album by recording artists of Nigerian record label Mo' Hits Records. It was released in 2007, by the label. Nigerian record producer Don Jazzy first revealed plans for a label collaborative album in 2006. Curriculum Vitae was supported by the singles "Why Me" (Remix), "Pere", "Ololufe", "Booty Call" and "Move Your Body". It received positive reviews from music critics and was ranked seventh on Pulse Nigeria's list of the 15 Best Nigerian Pop albums ever released between 1999 and 2016.

"Surulere" is a song by Nigerian singer Dr SID. It was released on November 13, 2013, as the lead single from his second studio album, Siduction (2013). Don Jazzy produced the song and was featured on it. "Surulere" peaked at number one on MTV Base's Official Naija Top 10 chart for the week of March 21 through March 27, 2014. It also peaked at number two on the Pulse Nigeria Music Video chart. "Surulere" won Best Collabo of the Year at the 2014 City People Entertainment Awards and was nominated for Song of the Year at both The Headies 2014 and MTV Africa Music Awards 2014.
The 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards took place on 31 August 2014, at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. The eligibility period was from March 2013 to March 2014. In April 2014, the NEA reviewing committee began collecting submissions for the 2014 edition. The deadline for submission was April 30, 2014, and the nominations were announced on May 29, 2014. Tiwa Savage and Davido received the most nominations with 5 each. Don Jazzy, Flavour N'abania and Wizkid all got four nominations each, while Olamide, Patoranking, Chidinma and Oritse Femi followed closely with three nominations.

Nonso Temisan Ajufo known professionally as DJ Big N is a Nigerian DJ. As part of Mavin Records, DJ Big N has supported several of the label's top-billed acts, including supporting Tiwa Savage on her first American tour. He has released several Mavin themed mixtapes, including the "Mavin All Stars" mixtape, the ‘Surulere Mixtape Volume 1’, the "ENERGY Mixtape", and several Afro session Mixtapes with “Alternate Sound” band.
Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon, who is better known by his stage name Reekado Banks, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He was signed to Mavin Records between 2014 and 2018, and went by the stage name Spicy before his record deal with the label. Banks won Rookie of the Year at The Headies 2014, and received the controversial Next Rated award at The Headies 2015. His debut studio album Spotlight, which was released on 1 September 2016, debuted at number 10 on the Billboard World Albums chart.
Charles Enebeli, better known by his stage name D'Prince, is a Nigerian Afropop recording artist, and entrepreneur. He founded the entertainment company and record label Jonzing World in 2019, through which he has signed singer Rema.
