Drummer is the second studio album by Australian indie pop singer G Flip, released on 11 August 2023 through Future Classic. It was preceded by four singles: "Be Your Man", "The Worst Person Alive", "Good Enough", and "Australia". It debuted atop the ARIA Albums Chart. G Flip toured Australia and North America in support of the album.
The album was announced on 28 June 2023, alongside the album's second single, with G Flip saying "Growing up watching pop music icons, I never saw a solo artist whose main instrument was drums. I wanted to make the album that my kid self dreamed of—a hybrid of pop/rock but with drums out the front. Incorporating groove, tempo, feel and drum moments while still making catchy pop music. I honestly can't wait for you to hear this album in August". [5] [2]
G Flip also said the album is "a stark contrast" from their debut album About Us , saying "I made my first album in my bedroom, surrounded by my instruments. After making my first album, I was thrown into pop sessions where people very rarely had a drum kit or any real instruments in the room. I was shocked that when I had 'made it' the norm was to ditch the live instruments and make everything on laptops... I knew that wasn't me". [6]
The album was supported by the Drummer tour, commencing in Brisbane on 18 August before a 25-date run in North America. [7]
At the 2023 ARIA Music Awards, the album was nominated for Album of the Year, Best Independent Release, Best Rock Album and Best Solo Artist. [8]
At the 2023 J Awards, the album won Australian Album of the Year. [9] [10]
The album was nominated for Best Record at the Rolling Stone Australia Awards. [11]
The album was also nominated for Best Album at the 2024 Music Victoria Awards. [12]

Writing for NME , Karen Gwee called Drummer a "booming, big-hearted record guided by raw feeling and the instrument that started it all for [G Flip]". Gwee called the record "larger than life" with its production rendering G Flip's debut album About Us "demure by comparison". [13]
Vivienne Kelly from Rolling Stone Australia said "The album also puts G's powerful vocals on display, whether it's through the pained 'The Worst Person Alive', or the passionate 'Be Your Man'" adding "and will likely further cement them as an Australian talent the world is talking about." [14]
Triple J called it "A bold, solo, pop record written with a passion for percussion and embracing one's true self." [15]

The Rubens are an award winning 5 piece alternative rock band from Menangle, Australia. The band comprises the three Margin brothers, Izaac, Sam and Elliott, and friends Scott Baldwin and William Zeglis. Their debut self-titled album The Rubens gained them domestic success with it reaching number 3 on the ARIA Charts and being nominated for a J Award for Album of the Year.
Takudzwa Victoria Rosa "Tkay" Maidza is a Zimbabwean-born Australian singer-songwriter and rapper.
Gang of Youths are an Australian alternative rock band, which formed in 2012. Since 2020, the group consists of David Le'aupepe on lead vocals, rhythm guitar and piano, Max Dunn on bass guitar, Jung Kim on guitar and keyboards, Donnie Borzestowski on drums and Tom Hobden on violin, rhythm guitar and keyboards. They relocated to England in 2017. Founding member Joji Malani, on lead guitar and backing vocals, left them in 2019 to return to Australia. The band's debut studio album, The Positions (2015), received multiple ARIA Award nominations and peaked at number five on the Australian albums chart. It provided the single "Magnolia", which has been described as their breakthrough hit and was certified platinum in 2018.
Holy Holy are an Australian indie rock band formed by songwriters Timothy Carroll and Oscar Dawson (guitar) in 2011. The pair were later joined by touring musicians Ryan Strathie (drums), Graham Ritchie and Matt Redlich. They have released four top-20 studio albums and have been nominated for two ARIA Awards.
Gretta Louise Ray is an Australian singer-songwriter from Melbourne, Victoria. Middle Kids are an Australian alternative indie rock band from Sydney. The group consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Hannah Joy, bass guitarist Tim Fitz, and drummer Harry Day. Since forming in 2016, the band has released their eponymous debut EP (2017), the album Lost Friends (2018), the New Songs for Old Problems EP (2019), and their second studio album, Today We're the Greatest (2021). In February 2024, they released their third album, Faith Crisis Pt 1.
Georgia Claire Flipo, known professionally as G Flip, is an Australian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from Melbourne, Victoria. Their debut studio album, About Us, was released on 30 August 2019. Its follow-up, Drummer, followed almost four years later on 11 August 2023.
Lime Cordiale are an Australian pop rock group formed in 2009. It consists of brothers Oli and Louis Leimbach, with additional members James Jennings, Felix Bornholt and Nicholas Polovineo. They released their debut studio album Permanent Vacation in 2017. The group have performed at Groovin' the Moo and South by Southwest (SXSW). At the 2020 ARIA Music Awards they were nominated in eight categories and won Breakthrough Artist – Release for their second album, 14 Steps to a Better You.
Toni Watson, known professionally as Tones and I, is an Australian singer, songwriter, and record producer. She is best known for her breakout single "Dance Monkey", which reached number one in over 30 countries including her home country Australia. In 2019–20, "Dance Monkey" completed 24 weeks at number one on the Australian singles chart, beating Bing Crosby's all-time Australian record for his version of "White Christmas", which spent an equivalent of 22 weeks at the top in 1943. "Dance Monkey" was certified 19× platinum by ARIA for shipments of over 1,330,000 units by June 2023.
The Teskey Brothers are an Australian blues rock band from Melbourne, named after the two brothers who formed the group in 2008: Josh Teskey and Sam Teskey. In 2019, they signed with Glassnote Records and Ivy League Records. They have released three albums: Half Mile Harvest (2017), Run Home Slow (2019) and The Winding Way (2023). At the 2019 ARIA Music Awards, The Teskey Brothers were nominated for seven awards. Kofi Owusu-Ansah, known by his stage name Genesis Owusu, is a Ghanaian-Australian rapper and singer from Canberra. He is the younger brother of fellow hip hop rapper, Kojo Owusu-Ansah p.k.a. Citizen Kay. Owusu's debut studio album, Smiling with No Teeth, reached the ARIA Albums Chart top 30. At the 2021 ARIA Music Awards he won four trophies for Album of the Year, Best Hip Hop Release, Best Independent Release and Best Cover Art.
Spacey Jane are an Australian indie rock band formed in Fremantle in 2016. The group consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Caleb Harper, lead guitarist Ashton Hardman-Le Cornu, drummer Kieran Lama and bassist Peppa Lane, who replaced Amelia Murray in 2019.
