Angélique Namaika is a Roman Catholic Augustine Sisters of Dungu and Doruma nun from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Sister Angélique has been working in the Congo since 2008 to assist women and girls who have been abused by the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). She is the 2013 recipient of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees' Nansen Refugee Award for her work with Congolese refugee women. Her Centre for Reintegration and Development is located in Dungu, Orientale Province in the northeast of the DRC. Dungu has been the center for international humanitarian efforts for women and children who have been displaced by violence and war in the area.

Dungu-Uye Airport is an airport serving the Kibali River town of Dungu in Haut-Uélé Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The airport is just south of the river.

The Kibali River is a tributary to the Uele River in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It originates in the mountains near Lake Albert and flows west for about 1,000 kilometres (620 mi) to join the Dungu River at Dungu where the Uele River is formed. The Uele is a tributary to the Ubangi River, which subsequently flows into the great Congo River.

Richard Domba Mady was a Congolese Roman Catholic prelate. He served as the third Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Doruma–Dungu, located in northeast Democratic Republic of the Congo, from his installation on 31 July 1994 until his death on 3 July 2021. During his tenure, his diocese endured a series of attacks during the numerous conflicts affecting the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, including the First Congo War, the Second Congo War, and the aftermath of these wars.
