Dyer station is an Amtrak station in Dyer, Indiana, served by the Cardinal route.
Dyer Station was merely a little shelter with seats before a renovation in 2014, which demolished the "Amshack" shelter built in 1986 and constructed a larger station house which was accessible, and repaved the platform and parking lot. [2] It is located north of an at-grade crossing of two railroad lines; CSX (formerly the Monon Railroad) and the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern. [3] The original depot stood at the diamond junction itself. [4]
On August 2, 2010, Northwest Indiana Regional Bus Authority revamped the Hammond Transit System into EasyGo Lake Transit. The newly introduced Red Route terminated approximately a mile northeast of the station, at Main/Calumet intersection. Riders could take the Red Route to Munster, Hammond and Chicago's East Side neighborhood. They could also transfer to other EasyGo routes and connect to other towns and cities throughout Lake County.
Hammond Transit and EasyGo Lake Transit discontinued all service on June 30, 2012. [5]
The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) had proposed a line to Lowell, Indiana which ran adjacent to the station, but Dyer's Amtrak station is not a planned stop. The first section of the West Lake Corridor is expected to terminate about 1⁄2 mile (0.8 km) north of the station by 2025. [6] [7]

The Monon Railroad, also known as the Chicago, Indianapolis, and Louisville Railway from 1897 to 1971, was an American railroad that operated almost entirely within the state of Indiana. The Monon was merged into the Louisville and Nashville Railroad in 1971, and much of the former Monon right of way is owned today by CSX Transportation. In 1970, it operated 540 miles (870 km) of road on 792 miles (1,275 km) of track; that year it reported 1320 million ton-miles of revenue freight and zero passenger-miles.
The South Shore Line is an electrically powered interurban commuter rail line operated by the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) between Millennium Station in downtown Chicago, Illinois and the South Bend International Airport in South Bend, Indiana, United States. The name refers to both the physical line and the service operated over that route. The line was built in 1901–1908 by predecessors of the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad, which continues to operate freight service. Passenger operation was assumed by the NICTD in 1989, who also purchased the track in 1990. The South Shore Line is one of the last surviving interurban trains in the United States. In 2023, the system had a ridership of 1,406,900, or about 4,600 per weekday as of the first quarter of 2024.

The West Lake Corridor, officially the Monon Corridor, is an under-construction commuter rail line in Lake County, Indiana. New South Shore Line services are planned to connect the towns of Munster and Dyer in Indiana with Hammond, Indiana and Chicago, Illinois.

The Joseph Scelsi Intermodal Transportation Center is a transit facility located in downtown Pittsfield, Massachusetts, United States. The $11 million facility is named after Joseph Scelsi, a longtime State Representative who represented Pittsfield. Owned by the Berkshire Regional Transit Authority (BRTA), it is serviced by local BRTA bus services, Amtrak intercity rail service, and Peter Pan intercity bus service. The second floor of the building houses two classrooms used by Berkshire Community College and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Westbound, this is the last stop before trains cross into Illinois, and the first stop in Indiana for outbound trains.
Edmonds station is a train station serving the city of Edmonds, Washington, in the United States. The station is served by Amtrak's Cascades and Empire Builder routes, as well as Sound Transit's N Line, a Sounder commuter rail service which runs between Everett and Seattle. It is located west of Downtown Edmonds adjacent to the city's ferry terminal, served by the Edmonds–Kingston ferry, and a Community Transit bus station. Michigan City/11th Street station is a train station in the central city neighborhood of Michigan City, Indiana. It serves the South Shore Line commuter rail line and is one of two active stations in Michigan City, the other being Carroll Avenue station. It is located adjacent to the location of the historic 11th Street station of the former Chicago, South Shore and South Bend Railroad station, which operated the station from 1927 until 1987. Prior to the May 2021 closure, the station was composed of a passenger shelter and a sign on the northwest corner of East 11th Street and Pine Street; boarding and alighting was done from the street itself. A more modern station with two tracks and high-level platforms opened in October 2023.
Framingham station is a historic Boston and Albany Railroad station located in downtown Framingham, Massachusetts. Designed by noted American architect H. H. Richardson, it was one of the last of the railroad stations he designed in the northeastern United States to be built. The station, built in 1884–85, served as a major stop on the B&A Main Line as well as a hub for branch lines to Milford, Mansfield, Fitchburg, and Lowell. After years of deterioration, the station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 as the Framingham Railroad Station, and restored a decade later.

Hammond Transit System was the provider of bus service in the Chicago suburb of Hammond, Indiana. It featured four local intra-city routes and one route that provides access to neighboring Whiting and Chicago's East Side neighborhood. The system was established in 1976 as replacement for the discontinued bus service provided by Chicago & Calumet District Transit Co. The service was a division of the Hammond city government. As of January 1, 2010, the system is operated by the Northwest Indiana Regional Bus Authority. Hammond Transit Center acts as a transit hub, linking together all system routes, as well as Pace suburban bus system, East Chicago Transit and Gary Public Transportation Corporation bus routes.
Northwest Indiana Regional Bus Authority was a regional public transit agency operating in Northwest Indiana's Lake and Porter counties. Established in 2000, it was known as Regional Transportation Authority until 2005. The agency is responsible for improving public transit options in Northwestern Indiana by consolidating and modifying existing services and introducing new ones to fill the gaps. Under the current consolidation plan, RBA will eventually assume responsibility for running all existing bus services in Lake and Porter counties. The details of the plan are still under development as of January 2010.
Munster/Dyer Main Street is a planned South Shore Line rail station located at the foot of Main Street on the border of Munster and Dyer, Indiana. The station and main parking lot itself will reside solely within Munster town limits while additional parking and a maintenance facility will reside within the Dyer town limits. The station will be constructed adjacent to the CSX Monon Subdivision, but will utilize new tracks. Intended to serve as the southern terminus of the West Lake Corridor, it is expected to open to revenue service in 2025. Dyer Amtrak station is located about 1⁄2 mile (0.8 km) to the south.
Hammond Gateway is a planned rail station on the South Shore Line in Hammond, Indiana. Intended to serve as the interchange point to the West Lake Corridor, it is expected to open to revenue service in 2025. It will replace Hammond station, located about 0.15 miles (0.24 km) to the east. The City of Hammond's financial contribution to the West Lake Corridor project was dependent on construction of this station. In 2017, the NICTD began demolition of houses between Hanover and Brunswick streets to begin construction.
