Since 2006, ERM has been a subsidiary of Ituran Group (NASDAQ:ITRN). [1]
ERM Advanced Telematics was founded in 1985 by Meir Hayman as ERM Electronic Systems Ltd., initially focusing on the design and development of vehicle security systems. In 1998, the company established its own in-house manufacturing facility in Rishon LeZion, Israel.
As cellular-based M2M technology became more widespread, ERM entered the telematics market in 2000 with its SkyLink device. The company's focus on telematics intensified after Ituran, an Israeli telematics provider, acquired a 51% stake in the company in 2006. [2] Following the acquisition, ERM launched its StarLink line of telematics products.
In January 2013, the company officially changed its name to ERM Advanced Telematics. Throughout the 2010s, ERM expanded its technology portfolio, introducing solutions for driver behavior monitoring (2013), fuel monitoring (2014), and CAN bus diagnostics (2016). The company also began to expand its international presence, opening an office in India in 2015.
In recent years, ERM has broadened its focus to include the IoT and micromobility, launching a product line for asset tracking in 2019 and a telematics solution for electric micromobility vehicles that same year.
