Edward Joseph Hughes is an Australian politician representing the South Australian House of Assembly seat of Giles for the South Australian Branch of the Australian Labor Party since the 2014 state election. [1] Hughes was previously a long-serving member of the Whyalla City Council. [2] Hughes has expressed strong support for South Australia's development of its renewable energy potential as a Councillor [3] and as a member of Parliament. [4]

2018 South Australian state election

The 2018 South Australian state election to elect members to the 54th Parliament of South Australia was held on 17 March 2018. The record-16-year-incumbent Australian Labor Party (SA) government led by Premier Jay Weatherill was seeking a fifth four-year term, but was defeated by the opposition Liberal Party of Australia (SA), led by Opposition Leader Steven Marshall.
