Edo State Polytechnic Usen is a higher institution of learning located in Usen community of Ovia South West local government area of Edo State, Nigeria. [1] [2] It was formerly known as Edo State Institute of Technology and Management (ESITM) Usen. [3]

Background

The polytechnic was founded in 2002 by the former governor of Edo State, Chief (Dr.) Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion. [4] Governor Godwin Obaseki, in May, 2019, signed a bill into law officially changing the name of the school from Edo State Institute of Technology and Management (ESITM), Usen to Edo State Polytechnic, Usen, as part of reforms to reposition the school for greater impact. [5]

The school runs four schools, with a total of 21 academic programmes. [6] The institution's programmes are accredited by Nigeria's National Board for Technical Education. [7]

The formal rector, Abiodun Falodun from 2018 - 2022, is a pharmaceutical chemist. [8]

The rector, Sylvester Omoruyi from 2022, is an Electrical Engineer. [9]

The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities ranked Edo State Polytechnic as second best polytechnic and the 54th best tertiary institution in Nigeria in 2017. [10]

The school had its first convocation ceremony in November, 2018 after over 16 years of existence. [11]

In the school environment they have one of the best Computer Center and Institute Digital Com crystal solution and iUni Crystal Global own by Femi Praise Moyin.

Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic is a Polytechnic funded by the Government of Rivers State, located in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.

The Benue State Polytechnic is a tertiary education institute in Ugbokolo, Okpokwu LGA, Benue State, Nigeria. The current Rector is Dr. Usman David Kuti. It was originally known as the Murtala College of Arts, Science and Technology, established in 1977 by the military governor of Benue State, Colonel Abdullahi Shelleng (1976–1978). In 1983, the college's Department of Agriculture of the College was merged with Akperan Orshi College of Agriculture. The school is approved as a state-owned polytechnic by the National Board for Technical Education.

Adamawa State Polytechnic is a tertiary educational institution in Yola, Adamawa State, Nigeria. It was established in 1991 through a merger of the College of Preliminary Studies Yola and the Staff Development Institute, Numan. The new polytechnic provides national diploma programs in computer science, statistics, accountancy, business studies and secretarial studies. The polytechnic, run by the State government, is accredited by the National Board for Technical Education. The institution has become affiliated with the University of Maiduguri for the purpose of running degree programmes.

Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic is a tertiary learning institution in Bori City, Khana Local Government Area in Rivers State, Nigeria. It has two campuses, one for the School of Management Sciences and the other for the School of Engineering. It is approved as a state-owned polytechnic by the National Board for Technical Education. Engr. Dr. Ledum Suanu Gwarah is the current Rector of the polytechnic.

Kogi State Polytechnic was established in 1993, and is located in Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria. It is owned and operated by Kogi State. As of 2007 it was accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to give certificates in Art and printing, Business, Engineering, Finance and Science Computing at the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels. In December 2009 the polytechnic presented 16 programs for accreditation to a visiting team of NBTE officials, mainly for the new schools of Engineering and Environmental Technology, Applied Science and Management Studies. The Rector said the school had to be able to offer core engineering and technology programs in order to fulfill its mandate.

Philipa Idogho is a Nigerian academic administrator, who was rector of Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi Edo State. between 2008 and 2016. She was the first female rector of the institution and has been noted to have played a significant role in improving academic capacities and institutionalizing responsibility within the school during her reign.

Abiodun Falodun is a professor of pharmaceutical chemistry from Nigeria. He was the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) of the University of Benin and currently the Rector of Edo State Polytechnic, Usen. He was appointed by the Governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki and sworn in on April 4, 2018.
