Owan West is a Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria. Its headquarter is in the town of Sabongidda Ora. [1]
It has an area of 732 km2 and a population of 97,388 at the 2006 census.

Wedding List is the list given to the intending groom looking to marry a woman from Sabongida Ora (Owan West). Everything on the list is to be purchased and presented at the traditional wedding ceremony (this is to be fixed and agreed on before list is given)[ citation needed ]. The content of the list varies based on the family head, the standard however are;
Owan west is made up of three districts which houses several villages. the districts and some of the villages are listed below: District of Iuleha -: Aropo, Avbiognula, Avbiosi, Eruere, Ikpeyan, Iloje, Ivbiodohen, Oah, Obii camp, Ogha Okpuje and so on; District of Ora -: Eme-ora, Igho-usie, Ikpafolame, Ogakha, Ogbeturu, Oke, Orbiogharin, Sabongida-Ora, Sobe and so on; District of Ozalla-: Ozalla. The crops grown in the local government includes-: Yams, Maize, Cassava, Plantain, Cocoa. The local government also hosts a number of market such as Sabo market, Uhonmora market, Ikhin Market, Uzebba market and Ozalla market.
There are several festivals celebrated in Owan West Local government which includes; Obazu festival-: Obazu festival is held among the Aomas of Iuleha which is strictly restricted to men folks, Ohonomoimen festival of luleha (Owan/Oras clan,
Ivbamen or Ororuen festival of Ozalla in Owan West, Oriminyan festival of oguta-Evbiame (Owan/Ora) clan.

Edo, officially known as Edo State, is a state in the South-South geopolitical zone of the federal republic of Nigeria. As of 2022, the state was ranked as the 22nd most populous state (4,777,000) in Nigeria. The estimated state population is around 4,777,000 in 2022. Edo State is the 22nd largest State by landmass in Nigeria. The state's capital and largest city, Benin City, is the fourth largest city in Nigeria, and the centre of the country's rubber industry. Created in 1991 from the former Bendel State, it is also known as the heart beat of the nation. Edo State borders Kogi State to the north for 133 km and across the Niger River for 81 km to the northeast, Anambra State to the east for about four km across the Niger River, Delta State to the southeast and south for 350 km, and Ondo State to the west.
Nnewi is a commercial and industrial city in Anambra State, southeastern Nigeria. It is the second largest city in Anambra state after Onitsha. Nnewi as a metropolitan area has two local government area, which are Nnewi North and Nnewi South, all centred around the Nnewi town. Even Ekwusigo local government area is now part of Nnewi urban area, as urbanization continues to spread from Nnewi to neighbouring communities. The Nnewi town which is the only town in Nnewi North comprises four villages: Otolo, Uruagu, Umudim, and Nnewichi. The Akoko are a large Yoruba cultural sub-group in the Northeastern part of Yorubaland. The area spans from Ondo State to Edo State in southwest Nigeria. The Akokos as a subgroup make up 20.3% of the population of Ondo State, and 5.7% of the population of Edo State. Out of the present 18 Local Government Councils it constitutes four; Akoko North-East, Akoko North-West, Akoko South-East and Akoko South-West, as well as the Akoko Edo LGA of Edo State. The Adekunle Ajasin University, a state owned university with a capacity for about 20,000 tertiary education students and more than 50 departments in seven faculties is located in Akungba-Akoko. A state specialist hospital is situated at Ikare Akoko, while community general hospitals are located in Oka-Akoko and Ipe-Akoko.

Afemai people occupy six local government areas of Edo state: Etsako West, with headquarters in Auchi it has an area of 944.8 km² with a population of 198,975 at the 2006 census, Etsako Central, with the headquarters in Fugar it has an area of 659.7 km² with a population of 94,228 in the 2006 census, Etsako East, with the headquarters in Agenebode it has an area of 1,131 km² with a population of 147,335 in the 2006 census, Owan East with Afuze as the headquarters it has an area of 1,239 km² with a population of 154,630 in the 2006 census, Owan West with Sabongida-Ora as the headquarters it has an area of 731.4 km² with a population of 99,056 in the 2006 census and Akoko Edo,Igara being the headquarters It has an area of 1,371 km² with a population of 262,567 at the 2006 census.These make up the Edo-North Senatorial District.
Ozalla is a prominent town in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria.

The Emai people are a group of people that inhabit a sizable part of Afenmai land in the northwest Edo state of Nigeria. They are a people of Edo extraction currently scattered around the Owan River. Emai territory is bounded on the south by Erah, on the west by Ora, on the east by Ihievbe and on the north by the peoples of Uokha and Ake. All of these groups of people are bounded by ancestry to a common founder, a person called Imah.

Akoko Edo is a Local Government Area in Edo State, Nigeria. Its headquarters is in the town of Igarra. It has an area of 1,371 km2 and a population of 262,110 at the 2006 census. It consist of the Akoko people that are split between Ondo and Edo states. Most see themselves as Yoruba and bear names identical with their Yoruba counterparts in Akoko Ondo. The Benin conquests during the reign of Oba Ozolua (1483-1504) established its first settlements in the region, while other people migrated there for fortunes, including the Bida. Of the Igbirra and Idah from the North and East, the war which Oba Esigie fought in 1515-1516 with the Attah of Idah would have brought a lot of migration into the area.

Omuma town is the headquarters of Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State in the Southeastern part of Nigeria. It is one of the oldest towns in Imo State. Omuma is located at latitude 5.560° N and longitude 6.972° E. Its boundary to the west is Mgbidi, to the east by Akatta and Attah, to the north by Eleh and Nempi and to the south by Amiri and Otulu. Omuma has four communities: Abia-Omuma, Ozuh-Omuma, Umuhu-Omuma, and Etiti-Omuma. The current Imo state governor, Hope Uzodinma, is from Omuma.

Edo traditional food consists of dishes or food items common among the people of Edo State. The State is home to various ethnic groups including the Binis, Ishan (Esan), Afemai, Etsako, Uzebba Iuleha people [Owan] and others. The Traditional food found among these people usually involves soup and swallow. 'swallow' is a term for Nigerian meals that are taken with soup and ingested without chewing.
