Ovia South-West is a Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria. [1] Its headquarters are in the town of Iguobazuwa. [2] It has an area of 2,803km2 and a population of 135,356 at the 2006 census[ citation needed ]. The postal code of the area is 302. [3] The local government area is one of the two in Edo state named after the Ovia or Osse river which passes through its territory, the other being Ovia North-East
It has several towns and villages, such as; Aghobahi, Igueze, Usen, Ugbogui, Ora and Udo.

Ogwa is a town in Esan West Local Government Area in Edo State, Nigeria. It is among the constituent communities of Esanland. The people of Ogwa speak the Esan language. The language of the Esan people shares the same name as the name of the land itself. Esan and Ishan are interchangeably used to refer to the same place, language and people. Ishan is the anglicized variant for Esan. The Ogwa people in Edo State identify themselves as Esan or Ishan people. Ogwa has four clans: Eguare, Ukpogu, Izogen and Eha. These clans are headed by most elderly men in each of them.
Godwin Obaseki is a Nigerian politician and businessman who has served as the Governor of Edo State since 2016. A member of the Peoples Democratic Party since 2020, Obaseki won the election in 2016 under the All Progressives Congress against Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and was sworn in on 12 November 2016.
Unuamen also spelt Unuame is an ancient village community by Ovia river in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria. Unuame is about 15 kilometres (9 mi) from Benin City and 20 kilometres (12 mi) from Benin Airport. Unuame is one of the ancestral homes of Oba Esigie's maternal grandfather and home town to some group of Binis. The people of Unuame have remained loyal to the monarch since the establishment of the ancient Kingdom of Benin. Being a part of the Kingdom of Benin, Unuame is at the heart of the tropical rainforest in the southern part of Nigeria, way to the west of the delta of the Niger River and inland from the coast.

Ujiogba is a community located in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, South South Nigeria. The community is headed by an "onojie" shares boundary with Ogwa community and Ehor Village. The community is largely an agrarian society and dominated by the Esan speaking people of Edo State.
The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Edo State will be held on 25 February 2023, to elect the 3 federal Senators from Edo State, one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election, as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives; with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.

The Ovia River or Osse River is a perennial watercourse in Southwestern Nigeria, flowing through the states of; Kogi, Ondo and Edo, before emptying into the Gulf of Guinea. Its watecourse spans approximately 120 kilometers through diverse terrain.
