Eirik Langedal Breivik (born 1998) is a Norwegian orienteering competitor who competes internationally. He represented Norway at the 2024 World Orienteering Championships, where he was part of the team winning bronze medals in the mixed sprint relay.
Born in 1998, [1] Breivik hails from Korsvoll and is educated as physiotherapist. [2]
Breivik represents the clubs NTNUI and Nydalens SK. [1]
Competing in the 2023 Orienteering World Cup, Breivik placed 27th overall, with 72 points. [3] In April 2023 he was part of a team placing third in a world cup relay event. [4]
Competing at the 2024 World Orienteering Championships in Edinburgh, he qualified for the sprint final, but in the final he was disqualified after mispunching. [5] Two days later Breivik ran the second leg for Norway in the mixed sprint relay. The Norwegian team, which also included Victoria Hæstad Bjørnstad, Kasper Fosser, and Andrine Benjaminsen, won bronze medals in the relay. [6] [7]
He won a gold medal in the middle distance at the 2024 European Orienteering Championships in Hungary, ahead of Kasper Fosser. [8] [9] Breivik was running the second leg in the relay at the 2024 European Championships, winning gold medal for Norway along with Eskil Kinneberg and Kasper Fosser. [10] [11]
The World Orienteering Championships is an international orienteering competition which has been organized by the International Orienteering Federation (IOF) since 1966. The World Orienteering Championships is considered to be the most prestigious competition in competitive orienteering. The races are contested between members of the IOF, which are each aligned to a National Olympic Committee.
The Junior World Orienteering Championships (JWOC) are an annual orienteering competition. They were first held in 1990. Entry is open to national teams aged 20 and below as of 31 December in the year of competition. Representative countries must be members of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF).
Per Fosser is a Norwegian orienteering competitor. He is Relay World Champion from 1970, as a member of the Norwegian winning team, which consisted of Ola Skarholt, Stig Berge, Fosser and Åge Hadler. He won a bronze medal in the relay at the 1968 World Championships, again with Skarholt, Berge and Hadler on the team.
Tove Alexandersson is a Swedish foot orienteer, ski orienteer, skyrunner, trail runner, ski mountaineer and skysnow runner. The 2023 Orienteering World Cup is the 28th edition of the Orienteering World Cup. The 2023 Orienteering World Cup consists of seven individual events and three relay events. The events are located in Norway, the Czech Republic, and Italy. The 2023 World Orienteering Championships in Switzerland are not included in the World Cup, but the European Orienteering Championships in Italy are part of the World Cup program. Non-European Orienteers can hence participate in the European Championships as well. Russian and Belarusian competitors are still banned, but this season saw Natalia Gemperle returning to the world cup, now competing for Switzerland.
