Morten Berglia (born 3 August 1958) is a Norwegian orienteering competitor. [1]

He won a gold medal in the individual competition at the 1983 World Orienteering Championships, [2] [3] and obtained a bronze medal in 1981. [4] He is also three times Relay World Champion, as a member of the Norwegian winning teams in 1983 (with Øyvin Thon, Tore Sagvolden and Harald Thon), [3] 1985 (with Atle Hansen, Tore Sagvolden and Øyvin Thon) [5] and 1987 (with Håvard Tveite, Tore Sagvolden and Øyvin Thon). [6]

Berglia won five individual national titles in orienteering, [1] winning the individual contest (the long distance) in 1981 and 1983, as well as the title in night orienteering 1985, 1988 and 1989. [7] He was awarded the Kongepokal (King's Cup) trophy at the national championships twice, in 1981 and 1983. [8]

Jan Fjærestad is a retired Norwegian orienteering competitor and athlete. His achievements in orienteering include an individual silver medal at the 1974 World Orienteering Championships and a world championship title in the relay in 1978. He won three national titles in marathon.

Brit Volden is a Norwegian orienteering competitor. Her achievements include two individual silver medals, and one gold and one silver medal in the relay at the World Orienteering Championships. She also won the unofficial World Cup in 1983 and placed second overall in 1984 and 1988.

Sigurd Dæhli is a Norwegian orienteering competitor. He became Relay World Champion in 1981, by participating on the Norwegian winning team in Thun, Switzerland. He obtained bronze in the 1983 Individual World Orienteering Championships in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary.

Bernt Bjørnsgaard is a Norwegian orienteering competitor and World champion.

Linda Verde is a Norwegian orienteering competitor. She received a silver medal at the 1974 World Orienteering Championships.

Harald Thon is a Norwegian orienteering competitor who represented the club IF Sturla and the Norwegian national team. He was part of the Norwegian winning team in relay at the World Orienteering Championships in 1981 and 1983.

Atle Hansen is a Norwegian orienteering competitor and world champion. He won a gold medal in the relay event at the 1985 World Orienteering Championships in Bendigo, together with Morten Berglia, Tore Sagvolden and Øyvin Thon. He finished overall second in the first unofficial World Cup in 1983. He was national junior champion in the individual event in 1980 and again in 1981, and received a silver medal in the individual event at the Nordic Orienteering Championships for juniors in Borlänge in 1980.

The Norwegian Orienteering Federation is the national Orienteering Association in Norway. It is recognized as the orienteering association for Norway by the International Orienteering Federation, of which it is a member. The association was founded 1 October 1945, and is a member of the Norwegian Confederation of Sports (NIF). Its first chairman was Kaare Thuesen. In 1946 NOF had 204 associated clubs, with just above 7,000 members. The number of clubs and associated members increased gradually through the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, and peaked in 1984 with 630 clubs and 34,000 members, and 35,000 members and 620 clubs in 1985. The next twenty years saw a decline in the number of clubs and members. As per December 2007 Norges Orienteringsforbund had 400 associated clubs and just above 24,000 members, distributed over eighteen districts.

Helle Johansen is a Norwegian orienteering competitor. She received a silver medal in the relay event at the 1985 World Orienteering Championships in Bendigo, together with Ragnhild Bratberg, Hilde Tellesbø and Ellen-Sofie Olsvik.
