Eluned Parrott is a Welsh Liberal Democrat politician. She was an Assembly Member (AM) of the National Assembly for Wales between 2011 and 2016. She is a Commissioner of the National Infrastructure Commission for Wales.
Eluned was born in Abergavenny. She studied at St Peter's Collegiate School,in Wolverhampton. Parrott gained a degree in music from Cardiff University,and has a postgraduate diploma in marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. [1]
Before becoming an A.M.,she worked as a community engagement manager for Cardiff University,leading a team that organises educational outreach and community events for the public. She has lived in the South Wales Central region since 1993;ten years in Cardiff Central and Cardiff West constituencies,and then eight years in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Parrott contested the Vale of Glamorgan seat at the 2010 general election. [2] This is a seat with little history of Welsh Liberal Democrat success. She polled 15.2 per cent of the vote,the highest Welsh Liberal Democrat vote share in the seat for decades. [3]
She became the first Welsh Liberal Democrat to be elected to the South Wales Central Assembly region in 2011 after the first candidate,John Dixon,failed to be reinstated following his suspension. [4] He had been suspended on the grounds of being a member of the Care Council for Wales. In July 2011 she was given the Enterprise,Transport,Europe and Business portfolios by the Welsh leader Kirsty Williams. As a result,in the Welsh Assembly she sat on the Enterprise and Business Committee and Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee. [5] Parrott is a Commissioner of the National Infrastructure Commission for Wales. [6]

Mair Eluned Morgan,Baroness Morgan of Ely is a Welsh Labour politician serving as Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care in the Welsh Government since 2021. Morgan has served as a Member of the House of Lords since 2011 and as a Member of the Senedd (MS) since 2016. She was previously Minister for the Welsh Language from 2017 to 2021,Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing from 2020 to 2021,and a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 1994 to 2009.

Michael James German,Baron German is a Welsh politician who was Deputy First Minister of Wales from 2000 to 2001 and 2002 to 2003 and Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats from 1998 to 2008,first as its de facto leader until 2007 and then as its official leader from 2007. The first-ever deputy first minister of Wales,he was also Minister for Economic Development from 2000 to 2001 and Minister for Rural Affairs and Wales Abroad from 2002 to 2003. He was elected to the National Assembly for Wales in 1999 where he was Assembly Member (AM) for South Wales East until 2010 and led his party group until 2008. In 2010,he was granted a life peerage and has since served in the House of Lords as a working peer for the Liberal Democrats. Ideologically,he is on the more liberal wing of his party.
Jennifer Elizabeth Randerson,Baroness Randerson is a Welsh Liberal Democrat member of the House of Lords. She is a former junior minister in the Wales Office serving in the Cameron–Clegg coalition. Prior to her peerage she was an Assembly Member for Cardiff Central from 1999 to 2011 when she served in the Welsh Labour-Lib Dem administration of the 2000–2003 Welsh Assembly Government.
Victoria Kirstyn Williams is a Welsh politician who served as Minister for Education in the Welsh Government from 2016 to 2021. She was a Member of the Senedd (MS) from 1999 to 2021. She previously served as the Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats from December 2008 to May 2016 and subsequently from June 2017 to November 2017 in an acting capacity.

The 2017 Welsh local elections were held on 4 May 2017 to elect members of all 22 local authorities in Wales. This included the Isle of Anglesey,which was previously up for election in 2013 due to having its elections delayed for a year. Community council elections also took place on the same day. These local elections were held as part of the 2017 local elections in the United Kingdom. Apart from Anglesey,the last elections were held in 2012. Normally these elections take place every four years,but the 2017 elections were postponed for a year in order to avoid clashing with the 2016 Welsh Assembly election,which itself had been postponed by a year to avoid clashing with the 2015 general election.
Central was the name of an original electoral ward in the centre of the county borough and,from 1905,city of Cardiff,Wales. It elected representatives to the Cardiff County Borough Council and,from 1974,South Glamorgan County Council. The ward ceased to exist in 1996.
